Podcast The Detroit Sports Show: Al Beaton Stops by to Talk Tigers and the Guys Preview Lions Camp.
from the detroitsportsite

Beaton also has (had) a website titled The Wayne Fontes Experience (waynefontes.com) where I posted occasionally for several years, mostly on his narrated game-threads during the Lions' season. But last season something very strange happened when he narrated during the first regular season game, immediately after it ended he just stopped dead. No more posts, no more game threads, no explanation given, I knew that he had some health issues, so was expecting him to return sometime during the season. But I then soon noticed that he was still active on Twitter, and later began to post on other websites such as BYB. I just didn't like how he left me and several others who posted regularly on TWFE in the dark as to why he simply abandoned the blog so abruptly. It now has completely disappeared due to expiration and the domain name has been put up for sale:

His earlier free blog-supported iteration is still up as an archive, however:

Leyland didn't have an update on Infante. Confirmed Infante's ankle is still bothering him.

Darin Downs will continue his rehab assignment with the Mud Hens, likely pitching Sunday night.

No lineup yet. Leyland still awaiting word from Kevin Rand on Cabrera and Hunter.

Leyland confirmed that health and velocity are not problems Verlander faces. "It is definitely location," he said.

Infante is in the locker room. Said he felt pain (not soreness), feels it when he pushes off that leg.
Just talked to Infante, who confirmed his setback Thursday. Said he thinks he's a week or two away from returning.
Omar Infante will have his ankle checked out by a doctor again today. He said he felt pain running the bases and in moving to his left.
Infante: "I think maybe one more week, two more weeks."

Sports Illustrated writer: Tigers' Max Scherzer 4th in AL Cy Young race.
from the freep

The Tigers right-hander is behind Seattle?s Felix Hernandez, the Chicago White Sox?s Chris Sale ? who?s 6-9 after losing to Scherzer on Monday ? and Oakland?s Bartolo Colon.

Corcoran?s premise is Scherzer has been lucky, because he should have lost three games when the Tigers bailed him out.

And I counted four games in which he got no-decisions in quality starts.

fu corcoran.

Miggy is not in the lineup,
Hunter is.

Tigers trainer Kevin Rand says Cabrera is day-to-day but much improved since exiting Monday's game.
Rand said another day or two.
Tigers trainer Kevin Rand on Cabrera: We'd rather he miss two or three games than 2-3 weeks. Said he has shown improvement since Monday.

I can seen 2nd...but definitely not 4th.

His OPAVG, WHIP, and Ks are second in the AL only to Darvish. All his peripheral stats are in the top five in the AL. I suppose that's all luck?

Yeah that article writer is an idiot...

Doug, you know he has mentioned the WFE and I never really paid close attention about any of that. He is a nice guy, engaging to talk with. I di think it had to do with his health which has given him some problems last and this year as well.
If you asked him, told him you used to follow, I think he would respond.

Jeremy Bonderman thinks he can help #Tigers now, or he wouldn't be here. Said he and Tigers should have minds made up in three weeks
Bonderman will pitch one inning for Toledo tonight. Knows bullpen is quickest path back to major leagues.

Downs feels fine after 10-pitch inning at Class A.
DETROIT -- The one bit of good news on the injury front for the Tigers on Friday came from lefty reliever Darin Downs. His shoulder felt fine after his 10-pitch rehab inning Thursday for Class A West Michigan.
Downs' next step will be a trip to Triple-A Toledo, where he's expected to make a relief appearance Sunday night. The Mud Hens are home through next week, so he'll have ample time to get in his innings before returning from the disabled list.
Downs went on the DL almost three weeks ago with tendinitis in his left shoulder. Once he got rolling with his throwing program out of the All-Star break, it didn't take him long to get back to game action.
"I'm taking it day by day, whatever they say," Downs said. "I just tell [the medical staff] how I feel."
