Detroit Tigers' Miguel Cabrera has surgery to repair core muscle, expected to be ready for spring training.
from Mlive

Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera underwent successful surgery to repair a core muscle, the team announced Tuesday.

The injury is believed to be the equivalent of a sports hernia -- an injury Tigers officials and Cabrera vehemently have denied the past couple months.

The surgery was performed in Philadelphia by Dr. Bill Meyers, one of the premier hernia specialists in the country.

Cabrera will require six to eight weeks of rehabilitation, but is expected to be fully recovered for the start of spring training.

No Gold Gloves for Tigers: Alex Gordon wins in LF over Andy Dirks,
and R.A. Dickey wins the AL P Gold Glove over Doug Fister.

Iggy will change that....
Jose Iglesias wasn't nominated for a Gold Glove at shortstop this year because he wasn't eligible. He didn't play enough at shortstop.
Jose Iglesisas' ridiculous, acrobatic play on Aug. 12 (video: http://bit.ly/14rrw8h ) was named the No. 1 overall Web Gem this year.

AL Gold Glove Award winners: Dickey P, Perez C, Hosmer 1B, Pedroia 2B, Hardy SS, Machado 3B, Gordon LF, Jones CF, Victorino RF.
