The transition from old-school to new: Leyland to Ausmus

Interesting article regarding the managerial shift from Jimmy to Brad with the Tigers. Obviously there is nothing yet to go on regarding how Ausmus will skipper the '14 iteration of the Tigers team, but the author does a decent job of explaining the similarities and differences in their philosophy, plus the emerging trend of hiring managers in MLB who have little if any previous managerial (much less coaching} experience:

IMO, it was very wise for Ausmus to select Lamont for his bench coach. Not just for his experience and knowledge of the team. BUT also the opposing MLB managers who Ausmus will need to match wits with.
