Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

August 28 in Tigers and mlb history:

1921: Despite three doubles by Babe Ruth, the Tigers drop the Yankees 7 - 3. Ruth starts a record streak in which he gets at least one extra-base hit in nine straight games. Tigers stars of the game are CF Ty Cobb, LF Bobby Veach, and P Bert Cole.

1961: At Washington, Rocky Colavito and Al Kaline belt 1st-inning homers as Detroit wins 7 - 3 to cut New York's lead to 1 1/2 games. Rocky now has 39 homers and 120 RBIs. Jake Wood hits a 6th inning grand slam to complete the scoring for Detroit.

1969: Detroit OF Jim Northrup goes 6 for 6, as the Tigers beat the A's 5 - 3. Northrup's 6th hit is a home run over the roof in the bottom of the 13th to win the game. The first 6-hit game for Detroit since June 24 1962, when the Tigers hitter with a 6 hit game was Rocky Colavito with seven hits in a 22 inning marathon.

2000: The Players' association exercises its option to extend the Collective bargaining agreement, ensuring labor peace through October 31, 2001. The expected move comes as no surprise as the players appear to be happy with the November 1996 deal, but the owners have expressed concerns the present CBA has widened the talent gap between the high and low-revenue markets due to escalating salaries.

Luke Putkonen begins rehab assignment in West Michigan, on track to rejoin Tigers next month.

Putkonen begins Class A rehab assignment.
DETROIT -- The Tigers could get some long relief help for the stretch run if Luke Putkonen continues to progress. The right-hander began a Minor League rehab assignment with Class A West Michigan on Thursday, his first game action since early May.
Putkonen went on the disabled list April 19 with right elbow inflammation. It looked like a short stint when he went on a rehab assignment in early May, but a setback at Triple-A Toledo had sidelined him ever since.
With Minor League seasons wrapping up, it's not going to be a long rehab stint for Putkonen. West Michigan is headed for the Midwest League playoffs, so its season will be extended.

Soria throwing, but no timetable for return.
DETROIT -- Joakim Soria continues to stretch out his throwing program in his rehab from a left oblique strain, but the Tigers have no timetable on his return.
Soria threw off flat ground Tuesday and Wednesday, and is scheduled to stretch out his throws Friday in Chicago.
From there, he could progress to throwing off a mound, though there's no schedule for that just yet.
There had been some hope last week that Soria wouldn't need much more than the minimum 15-day stay on the disabled list, something team president/general manager Dave Dombrowski told MLB Network radio last Friday.
When Soria originally went on the DL Aug. 10, the hope was that he'd miss 2-3 weeks.
