Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Michael Fulmer will have his next start pushed back.
Fulmer had been lined up to pitch Wednesday against the Twins but instead the Tigers will have him go against the division-leading Indians next weekend. The right-hander is winless in his last four starts though he still carries an impressive 2.76 ERA for the season. He's going to run away with the American League Rookie of the Year Award.

Tigers will start Norris, Boyd, Sanchez for first three games vs. Twins next week. Thursday is TBA, presumably Zimmermann or Fulmer.

Justin Verlander?s return to prominence as one of the game?s most dominant pitchers. Jeff Passan spoke to a very candid Verlander, who explained that during the 2014 season, the worst of his career, he felt pain in his shoulder through virtually every pitch he delivered.
However, as Passan notes, Verlander was keenly aware of the expectations that came along with signing a $180MM contract and was resolved to pitch so long as he was physically capable.
Verlander admitted to Passan that for awhile, baseball was no longer fun for him. The Detroit ace walked Passan through his recovery, beginning with recovery from surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle, which was, perhaps the root of all of his problems, as his mechanics were drastically altered to compensate.
Verlander?s velocity is sitting around 93/94 mph, and he?s now throwing his slider harder than in the past as a means of differentiating it from his curve. The result is one of the finest stretches of Verlander?s career: a 2.09 ERA and a 102-to-19 K/BB ratio over his past 90 1/3 innings that has firmly inserted Verlander into the mix for the AL Cy Young Award.

Another abbreviated, and disappointing return from the disabled list for Tigers pitcher Jordan Zimmermann.
Lasted just one inning and four batters. Gave up three homers, including a first-pitch leadoff blast, during that span.
Also walked three batters, significant because Zimmermann typically does not walk batters much.
Manager Brad Ausmus with the short hook, and understandably so. Zimmermann clearly not right and Tigers can't afford NOT to limit the damage. Blaine Hardy on in long relief with DET trailing BAL 5-1 in the second. Zimmermann's last return from the DL - on August 4 -- lasted just 1.2 innings.

Tigers pitcher Jordan Zimmermann said he feels good physically, not hampered by injury, just had difficulty locating. Called the outing "embarrassing" but is still hoping to make his next start.

Manager Brad Ausmus did not commit when asked if pitcher Jordan Zimmermann would remain in the rotation and make his next start. Said: "That's something to be discussed." Tigers will mull decision internally.
Spot start from Mike Pelfrey is a possibility, he admitted, though he's only stretched out to 60 pitches at this point so it doesn't sound likely.

September 11 in Tigers and mlb history:

1889 - Rain prevents every scheduled game in both major leagues. For the season the National League will have 62 rainouts and the American Association 73.

1903: A new National Agreement signed by the National Association of minor league clubs officially organizes professional baseball under one comprehensive set of rules.

1928: In the Yankees' 5 - 3 win at Yankee Stadium, Ty Cobb makes his last appearance as a batter, popping out against Yankee Hank Johnson to SS Mark Koenig as a pinch hitter in the 9th. Babe Ruth's two-run clout, off Lefty Grove in the 8th, seals the win for New York.

1984 - At Baltimore, the Tigers cut their magic number to seven with a 9 - 2 clipping of the Orioles. Darrell Evans has four hits including a homer. Larry Herndon follows Evans' homer with one of his own, while Kirk Gibson has three hits and his 27th steal. Dan Petry wins his 17th. The Tigers pass the two million mark in road attendance tonight and become the fifth team in American League history to go over that mark at home and on the road.

2001 - All major league baseball games are canceled due to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Flight #93, and the Pentagon. Games will not resume until September 17th. The Blue Jays take a 12-hour bus ride from Baltimore back to Toronto, and Yankee Stadium is evacuated as a precautionary measure. Former minor league players Marty Boryczewski and Brent Woodall are killed in the attacks.

2002: Yankee legends Whitey Ford and Phil Rizzuto unveil a monument dedicated to the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The team also has a ceremonial tree planting in Monument Park in honor the of heroes and victims of horrific events of a year ago.

2011: The Tigers win their 9th straight game 2 - 1 over the Twins, to cut their magic number in the AL Central to 7. Doug Fister improves to 5-1 after being acquired by the Tigers at the trading deadline; he was 3-12 with the Mariners before the trade.
