TIGERS ARE TEAM TO WATCH THIS WINTER.
Keith Law can't remember a free-agent class worse than this year's, which has him thinking trades will play a big factor this offseason. The Tigers could deal any number of veterans, but doing so and remaining competitive will take some creativity from Al Avila. Law: Trade market overview.
(EspnInsider)

Rumors of a potential Detroit Tigers' selloff have been "a little blown out of proportion," according to a person familiar with the team's thinking.
The Tigers will listen on some of their high-priced players, but they think they have a chance to make a run in 2017 with a rotation of Justin Verlander, Jordan Zimmermann, Michael Fulmer, Matt Boyd and Daniel Norris.
The Tigers could selectively sell, but it would take a massive haul for them to even consider moving Verlander.

November 9 in Tigers and mlb history:

1953 - Reaffirming its earlier position, the United States Supreme Court rules, 7-2, that baseball is a sport and not a business and therefore not subject to antitrust laws. The ruling is made in a case involving New York Yankees minor leaguer George Toolson, who refused to move from Triple-A to Double-A.

1962: Tigers get HRs from Norm Cash, Al Kaline, and Dick McAuliffe in 8-1 exhibition win at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium.

2010 - The winners of the 2010 American League Gold Glove Awards are announced. Mariners OF Ichiro Suzuki wins his 10th Gold Glove in as many years, while first-time winners are 2B Robinson Cano of the Yankees, and OF Carl Crawford of Tampa Bay and Franklin Gutierrez of Seattle. Suzuki ties Al Kaline and Ken Griffey Jr. for the most Gold Gloves by an AL flyhawk.
