Notable:
Detroit has lost seven of its last eight games against Seattle.

Verlander hasn?t won a game since May 20. He is 0-1 with a 4.73 ERA in five starts since then.
Verlander is 10-8 with a 3.09 ERA in 21 career starts against the Mariners. He took a no-decision against them on April 27, pitching seven shutout innings while striking out eight.

Paxton is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing seven runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings against Texas. His ERA rose from 2.25 to 3.23.
Paxton is 2-1 with a 2.81 ERA in four starts against Detroit.
