Detroit Tigers Team Notes Over 3 Million Views!!! Thankyou!

Unforgettable day at Comerica Park - Tigers rally from 3 down in 9th, 2 behind in 11th, and win 13-12 on walkoff 2-run HR by Avila. Unreal.

Leyland: "We just didn't pitch very well today. Luckily for us, neither did they."

Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder have a very visible chemistry on the field. Two men who love to play.

Tigers jumped out to 4-0 lead in 1st off Buchholz on Peralta 3-run double...but by top of 3rd, Sox had chased Scherzer, and had 7-5 lead.

Tigers tied it with 2 in the 4th, but Adrian Gonzalez broke 7-7 tie with 2-run shot to RF off Schlereth in the 6th.

Vincent Padilla shut Tigers out for four innings, the bats went quiet, and it wasn't looking good w/ Tigers trailing 10-7 going to bot 9th.

But that's when the fun started: w/ Aceves pitching, Jackson & Boesch singled, then Cabrera tied gm with 3-run HR deep down LF line.

Sox scored 2 in the 11th off Benoit to take a 12-10 lead...then Melancon came in to try to close it out for Sox...

W/ 1 out, Cabrera single to RF, FIelder punched single to LF...after WP and Sac Fly, it was 12-11, with Fielder on 1st, and 2 outs...

Avila fouled off tough pitch to stay alive at 2-2, then launched FB to RF just over Ross' outstretched glove, triggering wild celebration.

Really an amazing moment when Avila's ball carried over the fence....two outs, two strikes, 2nd big HR facing final AB...incredible.

Cabrera finished with 3H and 5RBI, Jackson was 4-6 and scored 3R, Fielder and Boesch 2H each, Peralta with 3RBI.

Loved the ABs by the boppers in the 11th - w/ 2 strikes, Cabrera went to RF for single, w/ over-shifted IF, Fielder hit GB single to LF.

Scherzer struggled in start - stuff looked good, command wasn't, 2nd straight start vs. Boston he went fewer than 3IP and allowed 7R.

Below got his first ML win yesterday, got his 2nd today when he recorded the final out in the 11th, striking out Gonzalez w/ 2 on.

Tigers are 3-0 for first time since 2004, just 2nd time since 1985. Off day Monday, then Rays - who just swept Yankees - in for 3 starting Tuesday.

From Elias Sports:
This is the first time that the Red Sox have ever lost a game in which they held multiple-run leads twice in the ninth inning or later. And it's the 2nd time that the Tigers have won a game in this fashion, the first since September 28, 1929 against the White Sox.

Alex Avila's walk-off homer was the first one hit by the Tigers when trailing in extra innings since September 19, 1998. Damion Easley's two-run shot off Rick Aguilera in the 10th gave Detroit an 8-7 victory over Minnesota on that day.

Red Sox are 0-3 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since losing their first three games in three straight years from 1931-33.

Sunday's 13-12 score marked the first game in MLB since May 6, 2010 (at TEX 13, KC 12) where both teams scored a dozen runs. It was the first time the Red Sox scored a dozen runs and lost since May 31, 1970, when they were on the wrong end of a 22-13 slugfest with the White Sox at Fenway Park.
