Schlereth optioned to Toledo, Thad Weber to Detroit.

Tigers have purchased contract of RHP Thad Weber from Toledo.
LHP Daniel Schlereth has been optioned to Toledo.

Weber has been starter, needed now in long relief.

Leyland on Daniel Schlereth: "He hasn't been in sync since day 1. He needs to go out and pitch."

Weber is a surprise. Wasn't even a spring training invite. 0.75 ERA, 15/2 K/BB ratio in 12 innings for Toledo this year.

Weber was below Oliver, Turner, Crosby, Wilk, Ni, Villarreal, not to mention Smyly starting the season.
Ni on DL, Turner not throwing yet, Smyly busy, Crosby and Oliver not as effective. Wilk already up.

Tigers split DH with Rangers with 3-2 win in gm 2...Verlander gets the win (2-1), Valverde heart-stopping save (4th)...

Tigers badly in need of win after getting outscored 20-7 in 1st 2G of series - were down 1-0 going to 4th vs. Neftali Feliz, 9up, 9 down.

Prince Fielder, in terrific AB, drew walk w/ 2 outs, man on...Young singled run home, Avila walked, then Santiago singled home two, Tigers led 3-1.

That really was only threat of the day...Feliz was just excellent for Rangers - CG loss, but eight very impressive innings.

Given what Rangers did in 1st 2 Games of series, Verlander was equally impressive - 6IP (115P), 1R/0ER on 4H, 3BB/8K. now 2-1 with 1.72ERA.

Benoit threw 33 Pitches to record 3 outs in 8th, stranding two. Then Valverde walked 2 in 9th, got Andrus to line out to LF for 2nd out...
...then, after throwing 24 straight fastballs, broke out the splitter, and K'd Hamilton to end the game, with runners at 1st and 2nd.

Verlander now 17-3 following a Tigers loss last two years....his 16 Wins following a loss last year were most since Carlton (19) in 1972...
