Worth noting;

Delmon Young returned to the lineup on Saturday, batting fifth and serving as the team's designated hitter in the 3-2 loss to the White Sox. He went 0-for-4.

The Tigers scored their 17th eighth-inning run of the season Friday night when Miguel Cabrera singled in Don Kelly to cut the deficit to one run.

Not counting extra innings, the Tigers have their most runs, most hits (30), most at-bats (100), and best batting average (.300) in the eighth inning.

Octavio Dotel's two-run home run allowed to Gordon Beckham on Friday night marked his first runs of the season.

The runs were his first given up since Sept. 26, 2011, when he was with the Cardinals. The home run was his first since Phillies outfielder Raul Ibanez hit a grand slam off the 38-year-old right-hander on Sept. 17, 2011.

May 6 in Tigers and mlb history:

1925 - Ty Cobb hits his five home runs in two games tying the record set by Cap Anson in 1884.
For the second straight day, Ty Cobb dazzles with his amazing batting exploits, going 3-for-6 with two more home runs against the Browns in St. Louis. In Detroit’s 11-4 win, Cobb collects a single in the first inning, his ninth straight hit, and hits two homers, giving him a record five home runs in consecutive games. Two days earlier, when he was asked about slugger Babe Ruth, Cobb bristled and bragged to reporters that anyone could hit the long ball. He promised to prove it and proceeded to go on his hitting rampage.

1941: Hank Greenberg makes his last game before entering the U.S. military a memorable one as he hits two home runs with three RBI helping the Detroit Tigers to a 7 - 4 victory over the New York Yankees.
