Dexter Fowler?

No way Fowler for Turner, no way. I hope Turner smoke 'em tomorrow. So far he hasn't had much of a big league career and if he has another stinker, his value will eventually start going down.

I think the Tigers need to trade him while he still has high value.

If he comes up and does not do well it's not going to hurt his value much.

Scouts know he's not MLB ready, and he still has a very high ceiling.

Fact is it would be kind of stupid to trade him period with it looking more and more like Porcello may end up as a bust, and we don't have a deep pool of SP arms left.

IMO, Turner and Castellanos are nearly untouchable as trade bait, unless it's for someone like Cano with a guarantee that he signs a new contract before becoming a FA.

I've watched Turner pitch around 10 times since he's been drafted and I'm not really sure what the hype is all about. Is he good? Yeah, I think he is a solid pitcher, but I don't see the where the reports that he could be a #2, possibly #1 pitcher come from.

He seems like the prototypical pitcher that has an arm that "GMs can dream on." We'll see how much success he has though, it's not like he has dominated any level of hitting he has faced.

Look at his BABIP stats.

And....?

BABIP is a flawed stat. So he has a .322 BABIP away to go with his .235 BAVG. "Normal" BABIP is around .300. "Average" BAVG is .265. The difference is generally between .035 - .040.

Be leery of players with a higher than .040 difference.

Maybe he has just had some bad luck? He plays in some of the most pitching friendly parks around in San Diego's and San Francisco's stadiums.

It seems like he has some of his average numbers in certain parks, but struggles in absolute pitcher's parks like Petco and AT&T.

His splits probably wouldn't be as exaggerated as they are now with the more hitter friendly parks in the AL, such as Boston, New York, Chicago, Cleveland, and Baltimore.

Because you're not a pro scout who looks at potential not just the product they see at the time.

Verlander looked like shit his first few times in MLB too, but our scouts and development guys knew what was possible.

I can't believe you seriously just compared Justin Verlander to Jacob Turner. Verlander has always had the stuff he just struggled learning to "pitch" than to simply just throw. Verlander would probably still be one of the top pitchers in baseball if he still simply just threw all game.

Well believe I did or not, it does not change anything.

Turner is not MLB ready, which is why people think he's overrated when they see him in a big league game, and he does not do well.

That has no bearing on his potential.

Yes, but how long do we give him to start living up to his potential? He has yet to really dominate any level of hitting and doesn't have a great WHIP.

Yeah he is pretty damn young..I would want more the Fowler if Tuner was in the package.
