Deyonta Davis wins Mr. Basketball in MI

love his game, hope he puts on 20lbs

He's already 230 lbs at 6-10. Think he'll play at 235-240 next year, but with a D1 Diet and Strength coaches he will be a lot stronger. He has a great frame to add good weight.
He's a great rebounder, one of the best natural shot blockers we have brought to MSU, and he runs like a gazelle.

Very interested to see what he does at the McD's AA game, he played against most of those guys in AAU Ball last summer and was a standout.

Cmon Swanigan.....

Cmon Swanigan.....

Still think we have a great shot with him. He and Deyonta being such good friends can only help. Swannigan has also been told by MSU that they see him as a 4 not a 5. He doesn't want to play center in college.

Team should be good next year:
1 Nairn
2. Eron Harris
3 Valentine
4 Davis/Swannigan
5. Costello
Bench: Clark, Ellis, Bess, Schilling, Forbes, Wollenman, Swannigan/Davis, McQuaid, Ahrens red shirts IMO. Should be very deep. If Swannigan does come I think someone transfers although we'll have the scholarships available for everyone.

McQuaid is someone we never talk about, but he's a top 75 player who is a phenom when it comes to shooting 3s. Has a chance to be very good.

Although I put no stake in Caleb commiting he seems to be a heavy MSU lean and Davis should help sway him a bit. I think he will be Green and LAngford will go to Duke if I was to guess. I suppose people start thinking "Russell Byrd" when Mcquaid is mentioned. Not saying he would be but its the same hype that went to Byrd so people are being careful not to get too excited I assume

I've seen him 3 times this year. No way he's 230.

"But when the subject recently turned to how much Davis weighed, Guy didn’t believe him when the answer was 230 pounds.

After that day’s practice, Guy asked Davis to prove it and put a little friendly wager of pizza on the line.

Davis hopped on the scales and the verdict was 229.5 pounds. Davis said by rounding up the number, it counted."

If he has it doesn't show. He doesn't look any bigger than last year.

The guy is 6'9" - even if he is 230, he's really lean. I'm just under 6'3", reasonably fit and I'm almost 225lbs. Costello is 6'9" 245 and he looks like a bean pole next to stronger guys. Dawson is 225 and he's only 6'6". Wait, what am I saying? Didn't I tell you to STFU and quit hating?

Nix was said to be 6"9 265 his senior year, essentially the same height but imagine them standing next to each other. He sure doesnt look 230, he looks like Herzog almost.

I agree, if he is 230 lbs then it doesnt really show, he is pretty damn lean.

Muskegon got killed. It was a 2 point game at half but Everett put on a half court trap that gave Muskegon fits. Davis did not impress me offensively, but his guards are horrible. They turned it over a shitload and threw up some absolute garbage shots when they weren't turning it over. He had a sweet oop and a couple easy dunks, but other than that he didn't do much that end. Wasn't very assertive in calling for the ball or posting up either I didn't think. He is a monster defensively though, he probably had 6 blocks (1 was for sure a missed goaltend) and just takes up so much space. Manuel for Everett really impressed me though.

That's fine. I actually think it may be better that he's further along defensively than offensively. Of course you want both, especially from a 5 Star McD AA but if he can hold his own defensively, I think he'll get more minutes and more game experience early in to develop offensively. If he were a defensive liability that may not be the case unless he was pouring in 20 ppg.

Im with you on that. AP was said to be "rough around the edges" and a "project" when he was being recruited. He turned out just fine and id wager Davis will be as well.
