Draft Thread 2020

Pride Of Detroit Lions Podcast: Debating Detroit Lions? top offseason scenarios, decisions. 33 minutes.
Draft Chase Young or trade down and get Jeff Okudah?

To call this offseason important for the Detroit Lions would be an understatement. With the third overall pick and a boatload of cap space, the Lions need to make a huge impact this offseason to save the franchise and the jobs of head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn.

But just because they have the capital to make sweeping changes doesn?t mean their job will be easy. They will have some tough decisions to make along the way, and sometimes they?re going to have to make an unpopular choice or two.

So this week on First Byte, we made six hypothetical situations for the Detroit Lions and argued each potential solution to these conundrums. Granted, not all of these situations are realistic, but they all pose?at the very least?philosophical dilemmas that this team is currently facing.

For example:
Scenario 1: Would you rather spend a ton of free agent money on guard or defensive tackle?

Or:
Scenario 2: Would you rather draft Chase Young at 3 or trade down and still get Jeff Okudah?

We answer those two scenarios, and some even tougher ones on this week?s First Byte. Give it a listen:

Simmons ran a 4.39...ridiculous. Great value at 5. Not sure if he jumps Okudah if we stay at 3. Im still hoping for trading down twice. 5 then 13.

We need to trade down all throughout the draft into next years. Lets have 0 picks this year and 27 next season.

Im still hoping for trading down twice. 5 then 13.

That's what this team really needs to do. They have so many holes and this is a really deep draft where there will be good starting caliber players throughout the first three rounds. Trade back twice and probably have 6 total picks in 3 rounds. Maybe 2 picks in each of the first 3 rounds.

And then Ultimately they need to draft well which I'm not sure they can.
