Draft Trade Idea

they could stay put and hope Evans falls into their lap also.

you offer the Rams a 2nd and a 5th and a swap of 1sts , I think they jump at it in a heartbeat....2 first round picks and 2 early 2nd rounders can fix a lot of problems in St Louis.

The Rams were 7-9 last year in a much more difficult division. Unlike the Lions, they need a #1 WR, so if Watkins is there at 6 they will grab him. Then at 13 they can get a guy like Dennard. Or, maybe they get Clowney at 6 and take Evans at 13. Either way....I think the Rams are just as close to being a playoff caliber team as the Lions after this draft (they have 12 picks)

no...lol

but I think MM wants to stop defences from doubling and tripling CJ.

Well Watson as a 2 and Tate as a 3 would be nice. Though I still have my problems with $tafford. I'm not sold on him improving on what he did the last two years but maybe he'll surprise the hell out of me.

at #6 ??? theRams pick at #2 shooter...and need a OT more then anything...which they can get at #10

A running game will stop the triple team. CJ is almost going to always have one safety over there.

Bush ran for 1,000 yards in 14 games and Bell had 650....running game is already here.

The rams have every incentive to trade back because the things they need are available in surplus this year. There are 3 top 10 caliber OTs. At 13 there is plenty of Wrs and DB help that fit in that range. They have the opportunity to become a very good franchise with this draft but I still think they don't have the QB to lead them so that will be their hangup.

sorry shooter....I just googled walter football mock draft and they had the Rams at 6. I didn't read that he was assuming a trade down to 6.

There is no way on earth the Rams would trade down to 10. I think if they do trade down it won't be any further than 5.

The offense was to inconsistent and has been for a while. They make stupid mistakes like fumbles, drops and ints that cost them good gains then we get behind and have to play catch up. The defense played really well at times last year and the running defense was better than I have ever seen it as a lions fan. It was elite for most of the games last year. But they struggled converting sacks and gave up to many big plays to wrs. They harassed qbs but just never seemed to be in good position on deep balls. I blame safety help and also the fact that gun had them playing way to soft in coverage. We needed to stay closer to wrs so we would stop giving up short pass plays. It was incredibly annoying.

Bradford was having a nice year until the injury..I think he's good enough to win.

and so is the passing game (Stafford 3rd in NFL in yards). So, I would say what the Lions need is defense!

I tend to agree with you but who do you draft to fix the defense. I think the Cbs were pretty dreadful last year but also don't think that scheme helped also they were ruined with injury.(again) Is Gilbert going to be elite....i dont see him as that type of player who is a pure shutdown guy. Dennard isn't either. Safety could be a good choice I like HA-ha for this team but is he worth a number 10 pick. I'm not sure. There is no elite DE outside of Clowney who has his own mental problems and will be gone way to early for us to consider him an option. Mayhew want's to go BPA so if he can trade up for one of the best guys in the draft in Watkins it seems he would aim for that. I don't like it because I think it actually weakens the draft. A team without a bunch of holes can do it but as the falcons proved 1 piece away doesn't mean anything when you get injuries or the team as a whole kind of falls apart. For the right price I am fond of the trade up but I also see options at 10 and 42 that make the team better.

I think elite gets thrown out there too much. Just get some solid defenders..I don't think you can have enough help in the secondary.

I think if Gilbert is there you take him. I also think that trading down should be looked at. This team has no depth which is part of the reason they sucked so bad after a few injuries. I just think that trading up won't help this team in the long run. A team that is thin in talent and only has 7 picks....not a good idea to give up some of them to take a WR that you really don't need.

Bradford was having a nice year until the injury..I think he's good enough to win.
He has put together a few nice games. Think he is pretty average usually has pedestrian type numbers. Not high ints which is nice but also low tds and middle of pack yards. Struggles behind a terrible oline and really lacks weapons. I have always thought he was a little overhyped. He has struggled with injuries and even in his complete seasons hasn't been over the top with his production. On the right team he could do enough to win and not hurt you. Not sure this rams team has that type of talent though.

because at a 50/50 bust rate if you have two 1st round picks your odds say one will be a success. If you only have one your odds say that you have a 50% chance that he will be a bust.

Tell that to Charles Rodgers, Roy Williams, and Mike Williams.

A 50/50 bust rate doesn't mean if you draft two you get one. It's not buy one get one free.

It means its a crap shoot no matter what, and you could end up with four or five bad ones in a row while someone else lands four or five great ones in a row.

In fact, consider the last five years with the Lions. Stafford, Suh, Fairley, Rieff, Ansah.

Not one of them has looked like a bad pick yet, and more than half have looked like great picks thus far.

Point is, the best prospect can bust, and the worst prospect can hit... so it's a gamle worth taking if you have that one special player you firmly believe in.

With those high draft picks and the 12 of them they have the team could be improved quite a bit. He only played 7 games so 14 TD were pretty good.
