Since Trump was calling the New York Times an "Enemy of the People", I googled the phrase and wikipedia gives a handful of historical examples. The other time they list it being popular in the US was in the 60's when it was used to describe the Black Panther Party and...Ann Arbor's very own Students for a Democratic Society.
