Wasn't that because of WHERE they were collecting taxes and buying and selling goods - not because they were doing it?
you're not allowed to use that GIF. Antwoine Dodson would never be on your side.
mods, please delete his post.
There's also a parable where Christ talks about taking money away from the guy with 1 silver coin and giving it to the guy with ten silver coins. It wasn't a celebration of wealth, but it didn't display any rejection of economic inequality either.
A little. Not as much as some of you authorities.did you go to Catholic school?
Not strictly the location, but the presumption that the business was somehow blessed or condoned by God. (Like my stereotype of some of today's televangelists or megachurch leaders.) But obviously you can't be a den of thieves, take your business outside, and then be in the clear.
I'm just saying in a general sense, the biggest display of anger was over financial dealings. (Don't forget, I said this just after agreeing that the rich aren't vilified just for being rich.)
It would seem to me that trying to turn on buckk lending money and doing various otherBusiness transactions at the temple would be a pretty pedestrian activity for a rich person.
It would seem to me obvious that the richest and most influential person in the land would have been Pontius Pilate and then the high-ranking Romans below him.
Then we would move over to King Herod and the aristocracy around him.
Think the people like Annis and Caiaphas would have been pretty loaded Outside of their gigs and religion.
None of those people were doing business at the temple.

As a gov't bureaucrat, Pilate probably lived as well or even better than Herod off the Roman treasury but I wouldn't be surprised if Herod's personal net worth was bigger.
Like the Medium Place? I can live with that for a while. Warm beer. Cannonball Run II on VHS.that's okay. you'll probably still go to heaven, but you might have to spend a few years in purgatory first.
That?s the point, the Communist leaders in those classless society is all lived better than the rest of them. The old Soviet Premier is probably had access to as much goodies as rich people in the rest of the world did.
It does occur to me that Pilate likely got his gig because he came from privilege back in Rome.
We all have access to better goodies than any of those biblical era guys. I wouldn't trade my luxuries for Caesar's.

Air conditioning, cold beer, and coffee?
1) Exotic sex vs beer & coffee & AC- I really don't think it would be worth it long term. And most people don't even prioritize it highly enough to really pursue the options they have available in this age.worth it for the sake of having a harem of exotic women to tend to my every whim.
As far as cold beer... I know the Persians could make ice, using below ground water/airflow. I kinda wonder if the Romans could too? They had hot water & central heating.
