It was on so I watched it again.. I know it had mixed reviews but I really liked it and still do to this day. For me it is just one of those movies that i always watch when it is on....Looking back at the John Boorman piece it is amazing all the great actors that are in it. Shot entirely on location in Ireland and employing Irish actors and crew, the film has been acknowledged for its importance to the Irish filmmaking industry and for helping launch the film careers of Neeson, as well as Gabriel Byrne, Neil Jordan and Ciar?n Hinds.

Anyway that short clip prepare for battle always gets me and I really don't know why.. I guess that is the art of movie making... Music and images and acting.. maybe Valverde could use that music as he enters the field...LOL

In 1981 Excalibur was nominated for best cinematography but lost to Red's.
In 1987 Hope and Glory had 5 nominations.

Lost best original screen play to Moonstruck.
Lost best cinematography to The Last Emperor.
John lost best director to Bernardo Bertolucci – The Last Emperor
Lost art and direction to The last Emperor.
