Thank god!!! This has been my favorite day of watching football that I can remember. Lions clinch a playoff berth, and Tim Tebow falls apart at the seams, WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!! Fuck you Skip Bayless!!!!

Great game on both sides of the ball by the Lions.

Huge momentum going into Green Bay, I predicted 10-6 for the Lions in pre-season, but said I thought they could go 11-5.

ROAR.

Yeah, I also remember watching that playoff loss nearly like it was a year ago, Bob, with a young Greg Landry starting, then getting sick from the stress & puking on the sidelines...Bill Munson was put in for the very last Lions set of downs and he "almost" managed to drive their offense to a winning TD score but time ran out just as they got within 15 yards or so of the Cowboys' redzone.

Too bad that the Lions' head coach Schmidt didn't put Munson in for the start of the 4th quarter, as the final score might have been much different..

It would take another 20 seasons, before a Lions team would again play the Cowboys in the first round, and perhaps both of those franchise will meet again and yet another 20 years will have passed.

Congratulations to the Lions getting into the playoffs and to every Lions fan here week after week and year after year.
Long time coming and hope it is the beginning of many years in a row.

I was at Ford Field tonight. Electric. People of every age, race, gender, etc. were dancing in the aisles and hugging strangers....even after they stopped serving beer. Very nice to see.

I know I was laying on my bed in a body cast... My Grandfather and dad had made stilts for the bed so i could look out the front window. they had put my bed in the dinning room in North Muskegon and i was 10 at the time.. just like you i remember it like it was yesterday. man the lions were so hot down the stretch.. Going from 5-4 to 10-4 and getting the first wild card. I was a kid and heartbroken when they lost. Munson almost pulled it out.. .. I always liked Joe Schmidt. they had a huge comeback verses oakland that year too at home..

In 1970 they stared the season great going 5-1 in their first six games. But three losses in a row to the vikings, Saints, and Vikings again put them at 5-4 ( New Orleans) game was Tom Dempsey's wind aided 63 field goal as time ran out to win 19-17.. At 5-4 the Lions were in trouble.. The smashed the Niners 28-7 to go to 6-4... oakland came into the thanksgiving day game in detroit with a 6-2-2 recorded including 6-0-1 in their last seven.. oakland got out fast for a 14-0 lead on Detroit. Including up 7-0 in one play after the Lions fumbled the opening kick. Lions punted and Oakland marched again and for the second time My favorite player ( Lem Barney) was beat by Fred Biletnikoff.. Raiders up two scores and only 6:56 was off the clock. In Tiger stadium at that time both team,s were on the same side of the field. There was a plexiglass that separated the two teams. Lions Wayne Walker noticed that the Radiers were laughing and giggling amongst themselves. he told Mike Lucci then they both told the whole team. Still the lions offense was stopped and had to punt.. Oakland marched down the field again. Deep in Lions territory Lamonica went away from Barney to Dick LeBeau and wham he got a pick at the out own six yard line.. Schmidt told Greg Landry to get it going just don't run a lot himself. well he got the Lions going but he still ran... March the lions down for their first score.. He Hit Altie Taylor for a 12 yard pass as he was going backwards in the endzone...
Then the Lions defense took over. Lions got the ball back with a around two minutes in the half and Landry drove them down and he hit Charlie Sanders wh made a great catch for a TD.. anyway 14-14 at hal and no one scored in the third... Lions scored twice in the fourth a 6 yarder to sanders again and a 11 yard run by Mel Farr. Game over Lions comeback from 14 and beat oakland 28-14 to go 7-4. They win the following week 16-3 verses St. louis at home. Then in Los Angles a wek later 28-23 and at Home the last week of the season 20-0 over the Packers to finish 10-4..
We matched up well with the 10-4 cowboys but alas they had home field and then both teams went different directions in football history unfortunately for lions fans...
