Football team departures

Apparently some eligibility left, but we get Evans back next year and have a good freshman coming in. PT was going to be minimal for Tru.

Yeah, I know. I was talking about this past season.

Ambry Thomas has announced that he is staying next season at Michigan

I think that just about answers all of the questions for now

Chuck Filiaga, also, announced that he is staying at Michigan

Yeah crazy about Dwumfour

I don't get that one.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was the coaching staff's choice. I don't know what went on behind closed doors but he seemed like a prima donna to me. He got offered because Gary said that would help their chances and he's been an average at-best player when healthy. This is all speculation but even if he would have been good enough to get some PT it might not have been worth it if he's got a bad attitude.

Good luck to him and congrats on a great degree young man.

Yeah. I've been wondering about him. They kept saying he was hurt and then they would say he was healthy and then he wouldn't play

Maybe he just got passed on the depth chart.

I don't know.

Well the unit they had out there against Bama was actually pretty decent. Harris didnt have much room at all in that 1st half. Defensive line would have had a lot more gas in the 2nd half had Shea not pissed the game away.

Yeah. I was just reading that a converted walk-on OL played a lot of minutes on the DLine in the Citrus Bowl. Can't find his name right now.

Crazy how that defense turned out this year.

this o-lineman getting major minutes on the DL

Harbaugh must have had a lot of misses on the recruiting trail for this D to be like this in year 5

thanks

that is what we were just talking about further up the thread...

Just missed it. My bad.

Touch the Banner sums up Dwumfour's departure nicely. He's not really going to be missed.

Some people are lamenting the loss of Dwumfour, but the reality is that he made 36 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 1 interception during four years on campus. There has been a lack of physical growth, which is why we still see someone who is 282 lbs. when he was listed as a recruit at 286. That rarely works at the defensive tackle position, except in the case of someone with ridiculous quickness and anticipation like Maurice Hurst, Jr. For whatever reason, Dwumfour was always injured, and it seemed like every spring practice or fall camp came with obligatory updates that he was ?working through something? or was ?limited.? The 2019 season started off with injury rumors, then he entered the season opener against Middle Tennessee State with a cast on his arm, and literally one play into his first appearance, he was writhing on the ground.

Dwumfour was not stout against the run and was largely phased out of Michigan?s game planning in 2019, so I do not think he will be missed a great deal. There are also rumors that his spot on the roster could be taken by one or more transfer defensive tackles, all of whom appear to be talent upgrades. Overall, Dwumfour could not consistently stay on the field and was not particularly productive when playing, so the scholarship spot might as well be used on someone else.

Welp, we're in the market for a LBs coach.

Ian Rappaport: Another interesting hire for Brian Flores from the college ranks: The Dolphins are hiring Michigan LBs coach Anthony Campanile for a position coach job on the defense, source said. He was Boston College’s co-DC in 2018.

Yep. Looks like I was way off when i posted that our questions have all been answered

lol

Practically the entire 2017 class has left the program. The only contribution they've gotten from that group so far has been from angry Thomas, DPJ, Collins, Ruiz, Paye, Hawkins and Mason. That's 7 out of 30 that were contributors and at least half of the class transferred out of the program. Of the 7 contributors 6 have been very good players and there's still a chance that McCaffery will be a good player for this team, but that ratio makes it almost a lost year of recruiting. Not to mention that was the highest rated class of his tenure here, so the one he could least afford to have this problem.

Fun quote about Shea, and the staff enabling his lazy ass offseason, from one of the recent departures.

"From the moment Shea arrived, he was treated differently, like he could never do anything wrong," another recent exiting player shared with WolverineDigest.com. "Wilton [Speight], John [O'Korn], Brandon [Peters] would all get chewed out for things that they just looked the other way with when it came to Shea."

Real meritocracy under Harbaugh...

I really hate "anonymous" quotes. If you are going to throw a teammate under the bus...man up!

I agree, Tom

That and it was 2 players that left. I'm sure the guys leaving are leaving for a reason and it's very possible that they have an axe or 2 to grind.

We really have no idea how much time Shea spent golfing.

Gattis was not happy about the amount of time he was golfing. Made that known in a press conference. So he was golfing a lot.
