Game 144 Tigers vs. yankees September 12, 2019 Game 1 of DH

Travis finally whacks his 3rd over the LF fence....10-4.

Willi walks...Reyes singles...RISP w/two down.

Maybe the Tigers could sign Maybin to a one year contract for OF/bench depth in minors this coming offseason.

Nah, the Yankees will probably sign him again, in keeping with their policy of maintaining a full backup team of major league players at the ready.

Yet another "almost" homer to right for Migwell leading off the bottom 9th....doubles instead.

Offer him a 2 year deal then...force the yanks to make a bigger commitment..>:D

The FUyankees win game 1 10 - 4.

Tigers have an error prone infield,

Bryan Garcia is coming back from TJ surgery iirc.
Hall wtf, some of these guys do not belong in the major leagues.

They lose #101...exactly the same number of wins that the '61 Tigers finished with in second place behind the 109 win '61 yankees....who would need to finish 13-2 during the remainder of this season to equal.

The Tigers have 18 games left to play before this steaming and stinking pile of shit for a season mercifully ends, and they dropped below .300 for the third time.

Boxscore.

With those two homers, Boyd retook the Major League lead with 38. With likely three starts left this season, he?s almost certain to become the first Tigers pitcher with a 40-homer season since Hall of Famer Jack Morris in 1986. Boyd could also threaten Denny McLain?s franchise record of 42 home runs allowed, set in 1966.
Morris allowed his 40 homers over 267 innings, after which he yielded 39 homers off 266 innings the next season. McLain?s 42 homers were spread out over 264 1/3 innings. Boyd, by contrast, sits at 176 1/3 innings. Even in a historic season for home runs across baseball, it?s a concern for the Tigers as they look toward Boyd potentially anchoring their rotation next year.

Cashman is probably saying, "Avila wanted Gleyber Torres for this turd?" :lmao:
