I got a notification from ESPN to my cell phone yesterday that v mart played the last game of his career yesterday. I wasn’t aware that he was retiring but I haven’t been paying much attention to baseball this season.

Why is he ending this season seven or 8 or how many games it is early?

He wanted to finish in Detroit. Why yesterday and not today I don't know.

I remember there was a time because of an injury he was struggling from one of the sides of the plate-I forget which one.

So it might be because of who was pitching today and who is pitching yesterday.

I was out of town this weekend and didn't know Victor retired. What a weird way to quit.

Beavis actually pitched well, 5 innings 1 run 6 hits couple of walks and 3 K's,

he is still winless for 2018,

Ver Hagen gave up 2 runs and stands to lose the game,

Tigers batting last of the 8th,

Boxscore.

The Tigers finish with a 38-43 home record.

Today was the 50th one-run game the Tigers played this season. They are 22-28 in those games.

The Tigers are off on Monday before beginning their final road trip of the season on Tuesday night at Minneapolis.
Tigers rookie Spencer Turnbull (0-1, 10.80 ERA) will make the second start of his career, while the Twins have not yet announced a starter.

How many seasons have we cried for relief. And look at todays game. Of course fixing the BP won't help now. As every thing needs help/fixing.

At one time, I thought that this team had a shot @ finishing ~500, but now they will have to do that in the final 6 games of the season, just to avoid equaling last season's 64-98 record. But w/o "winning" as a consolation prize being the first pick in the draft. The Tigers still could wind up with the third pick. being only a game and a half separating them in the loss column.

The team is 2nd to BAL in number of games scoring 2 or less runs in a game. The league average in those games is .123 WPCT and DET is at .106 WPCT, well within the expected range. The issue is the sere volume of those types of games.

TBR 25
NYY 25

BOS 27
HOU 30
OAK 30

DET 47
BAL 49

Another point, DET scored 10 or more runs 3 times in September. You have to go back to April before you see a game where they scored 10 or more runs and they did it 4 times (twice against PIT) before the end of April. A large gap in between when they put everything together in a game.

Since June 17th, DET is the 2nd worst team in baseball behind BAL and has scored the fewest runs of any other AL team during that time (SFG is the worst in MLB).
