MLB needs to reduce the amount of intra-divisional games played each season, 12 would be sufficient. Then teams like the Indians wouldn't be able to pad their records vs weak rivals, and teams like the Rays this year get shut out of the postseason, despite playing in a tougher division and still winning nearly or as many games.

The one game WC playoff is ridiculous, cut the season back down to 154 games, and have a best out of 3 WC round in both leagues. Baseball shouldn't be played into nearly November, there should be a WS Champion by no later than Oct 20th, a couple months before Winter Solstice.

I like the wild card. A 3 game series would probably be better but that just prolongs the season. Maybe have a doubleheader at the home park on the first day and if they split they go to the other park the next day.

They will never take games away, so 162 is here to stay.

Bottom five twins up 11-4

I think I’ll jjst go ahead and skip the rest and call it a loss now

64-94

A totally balanced schedule, with top 4 teams making the playoffs. Wild Card play in game is dumb and meant only to keep interest.

That was one of Boyd's worst starts of the season, glad that I passed on watching him get lit up.

No aces and the only SP who could pass for being a #1 for the Tigers this season, was traded.

If there was only one WC, then Oak, Sea, and TB in the AL, and AZ, StL, and Philly in the NL's fans would know much earlier that their teams had no shot at the postseason, and home attendances would reflect that. This, like eliminating "real" DHers years ago was just MLB's naked greed shining through.

baseball is a business...aren't they allowed to make money?

huh?? A #1 was traded?

What part of "for the Tigers" did you not get?

My comment had nothing to do with what would be considered a #1 for winning teams, in MLB or even competitive teams with .500 records.

A 100+ win WC team losing a one game playoff to a high 80s or low 90s WC team, is fair?

that hasn't happened and isn't likely to happen any time soon.

This year in the AL, the two WC currently have 98 & 97 wins. The teams in contention for the NL have 87 or 88 wins.

Win totals since they went to 2 WC teams.

2017
AL 91 & 85
NL 93 & 87

2016
AL 89 & 89
NL 87 & 87

2015
AL 87 & 86
NL 98 & 97

2014
AL 89 & 88
NL 88 & 88

2013
AL 92 & 92
NL 94 & 90

2012
AL 93 & 93
NL 94 & 88

Pretty small sample size, and the potential for what I posted could happen isn't unrealistic.

This means less considering the unbalanced schedule. Each year the scheduling is changed. Each AL team should play the exact same number of games to each team, including interleague. That would the only way to effectively draw any correlations to records.
