Game 17: Lions @ Packers *Sunday Night* Thread

Didn?t he come out the same year Kerryon Johnson did? I think I wanted him over the guy that played a majority of his college career wearing a knee brace.

Jamaal Williams is a good NFL running back. What he brings to this team as far as attitude and heart are probably more important than what he offers ON the field.

GB losing is always good. Rodgers will probably blame the loss on everyone else.

He?s the heart and soul of this team. By all indications, I think he wants to be a Lion for life.

I don?t know if I?d give him top 10 money, but 10-15 range is reasonable. He?s the type of player you want to keep around, for both on and off field reasons.

Agreed. 100%. 2 years/ $9M (50% pay increase) seems reasonable to me. Fully guarantee it. Get him back.

Two things.

1. "All roads go through Detroit now". - FUCK YES. Love it. Not just to say it but there isn't a man in that room that doesn't BELIEVE that now. They still have to prove it....and that's not easy....but that thought is instilled in those 65 guys.

2. "I'm gonna drink some beer tonight"! - Dan Campbell being Dan fucking Campbell.

Liked the hire when we made it. Questioned it a bit early in year 1 but realized he has to have time to get better as a coach, too. He has. Not perfect, but his decision making from game 1 to game 34 has been wildly better.

First time since an 11 year old kid who thought NFC Championship games and Super Bowls were just a given since we had Barry Sanders....do I actually believe we are 100% on the right track.

I felt last year DC was being risky knowing our talent wasn't going to be able to keep up the entire game. This year I felt like he was risky because he was confident our team would dominate and execute.

I agree with BOTH of those statements.

I saw some growth in the 2nd half of this year, too. There were a couple times I thought he WANTED to go for it but took the 3 or punted. I also think he learned from the Dolphins game......that this team needed to win with it's offense and that lead to a few more calculated late game gambles that kept the offense on the field. The decision to decline the defensive penalty late in the Packers game was a perfect example. Kept it 2nd and 1 instead of 1st and 10. That gave us an extra play and made them use an additional TO. It was a really smart decision.

The next step is build a defense and trust them at times. But not this year.

Lions QB Jared Goff finished the season by throwing 324-straight passes without an INT.
This marks the 5th-longest streak in NFL history.
He did not throw an interception in his last 9 starts of the year, extending his franchise record.

The
@Lions last 9 games:

31 pts, 0 INT
31 pts, 0 INT
25 pts, 0 INT
40 pts, 0 INT
34 pts, 0 INT
20 pts, 0 INT
23 pts, 0 INT
41 pts, 0 INT
20 pts, 0 INT

They're the first team in NFL history to score 20+ points while throwing no interceptions in 9 straight regular-season games.

This is awesome data. I hope holmes uses it...it clearly calls out our weaknesses. Coverage, LB play and pass blocking in the interior (rg). Coaching staff has proven they can coach young guys quickly and get them playing at a high level. Hoping to see atleast 1 new starting LB S CB and RG next year.

Dang that coverage number.

Okudah definitely faded the last 6 games.

I still like the progress, though. Even in 2022.....they say it still takes a full year AFTER recovery to get back to "normal". Hoping Okudah can make another jump next year. If not, with how well he tackles, I think he would be a good S.

Okudah's game-by-game grades attached - never tried this before so not sure how it will show.
