I wasn't watching but sometimes a player will try to take the extra base to allow the runner in front of him to score. Not sure if this was the case or not.

It wasn't. He saw the catcher down after the play at the plate. The catcher threw him out from his ass. He was just being stupidly aggressive. He didn't start running until after he saw the play at the plate.
