Game 24 Tigers vs. Red Sox April 25, 2019

Casey Mize promoted to AA Erie. Rotation at Erie is stacked.

Mize’s April numbers for the Flying Tigers were nothing short of complete domination.

In his four starts, Mize completed 26.0 innings, yielding only 7 base hits, one earned run, while walking only one and striking out 25 batters.

Mize accumulated a WHIP of 0.31 and a 0.35 ERA.

Truly Lakeland fans were given a brief glimpse of what the future may hold for Mize.

Mize, who will turn 22 next week, repeatedly displayed quite the command of all four pitches.

As catcher Austin Athmann said last week, “He (Mize) is in total control out there, and with each of his four pitches, he keeps batters off balance. It is a pleasure for me to catch him.”

Lakeland manager Andrew Graham spoke Thursday from his office of how Mize’s last two outings he gave up only one hit per outing and both of those were infield hits, only because he (Graham) had the Flying Tigers’ defense in a shifted alignment.

Graham spoke of Mize’s approach regarding his profession, “He was very advanced for Class A ball, the way he went about it,” said Graham. “He knew what he was doing out there. He is a structured young man. He got here early, got his work done in the weight room and training room. Every day he had a plan, a purpose and executed his plan.”

Regarding Mize the person, “Personally he is a great kid; he was here only a short time, and I never had a problem with him. He loves family, and is engaged as well, he has a lot going for him.”

I said it after his last start and I'll say it again. After a few more clunkers he will go on the DL with some obscure injury unique only to Tiger's pitchers that he had been trying to pitch through. Lol

No doubt.

Damn...you guys are good. You both called this. LOL!

They're calling it a right elbow UCL sprain.
