Game 4: Saints @ Lions Thread

Brees kills you on the blitz. 132 rating in 2019 and good in 2020 too. Dline needs to fucking win their matchups. Nick Williams had a bum shoulder. Okwara made a few plays. Ragland had a sack. Hand and Flowers need to do way more. They have done it in the past. Win more one on one battles. Saints do this to many teams. They have a good Oline.

Lions have the next 12 games to get it right or Patricia will be gone. You guys gave up because you want the Lions to be bad so you can have your little complaints. I'll watch to see what happens. It's his last chance. That Swift drop is so annoying because it's such a different outlook then. Thats how close the NFL can be.

In hindsight it was pretty clear after I first heard Quinn give a season post mortem couple years back when he excessively says ummm a lot. Saying ummm a lot when trying to give answers is a sign that you are searching for the answer and don't really have an answer. The guy doesn't have a clue as to how to go about a strategy to build a winning team as a GM

Time to start over sooner the better. odd are it won't happen though cuz of this.. great just great the clueless fords will let the greatest shit show on earth continue most likely.

Ya im trying to figure out his point. You cant bliz Brees or else....what? Dude completed 76% of his passes. So you blitz him and he will complete 80%? OH NO!!!!!! Play zone and he completed 90%. Maybe if you blitz him he will complete 50?...how do you know if you dont try it.

Maybe he'll throw 85% but one of those is a pick 6 cause we actually forced him to do something he didnt want to?

Thats the biggest problem with this team and Patricia. We sit back and let the other team do whatever they want on both sides of the ball. We dont attack....ever. If the other team blitzes it hits and we have no play to counter it. Our defense does nothing....ever.

We would give up chunk plays and 60 points if we blitzed him. Lions had plenty of 3rd down chances but defense didnt get it done.

This roster is great
KJ and Swift
Weapons galore with KG, Marvin, Amendola and Hock. Hall a big deep threat
Elite QB
Decker and Ragnow are good. Run blocking talent like crazy with Big V, rookie guards and Dahl was solid in 2019.

Offense can score 30 PPG

This defense looks good. Pass Rush added with Hand, Julian Okwara, Collins, Nick Williams. You can't get worse than 2019 DTs. Hand and Williams big upgrades. Okwara is a nice upgrade and Collins is a beast. Flowers is a beast. This team can rush the passer. Which helps the secondary

this secondary could be top 5 in NFL. Trufant and Okudah much better combo than Slay/garbage. Coleman is a good and will have pass rush. Harmon great addition at FS and Walker a good safety. Some depth with AO/Roberts now. Safety depth is an issue

LB is versatile. Collins is a huge addition. Tavai year 2. Davis in a better role for him. Jones moves to 4th LB. Ragland nice fit too and underrated. LB big improvements

New DC, new ST coordinator

This is an 11 win team

The haters will say
Pass rush will be below average
LBs will be bad
Pass Pro won't be good

they should be wrong

:lmao:

Didn't execute. Dropped pass from 2-2 and two HOF QBs. Far from over. 12 more to go

Then cover? Or are you saying Harmon, Okudah and Trufant were bad decisions?

and whers this elite offense everyone keeps talking about?

Passing offense is ranked 22nd
Rushing Offense tied for 23rd
Points for tied for 18th

Stafford is a turd.

maybe the offense gets over confident during the week because they get to go against the Lions D. Then, come game time, they run into an actual defense.

Trufant is hurt. Okudah is a good decision just inexperienced. Harmon is playing well if you actually watched. Coverage is more than just those 3 guys too LBs, TW, AO, Will "Shit" Harris who gave up a TD. Coleman hurt on IR, Roberts is a fine backup but average.

Rushing 4 on Brees is the right game plan. Front 4 didn't execute against a good Dline. Coverage wasn't up to par due to injuries and inexperience and lack of pass rush. And sometimes Sanders or the speedy Smith against a limping Trufant or Kamara who is a very good receiver (big 4th down play) is going to make a play.

Lions can rebound against the next 8 opponents then deal with Rodgers again.

We'll see where we end up on defense after 16.

Stafford is a turd.

Stafford is the only one making plays it seems along with Hock. Peterson had a few nice runs. Swift is learning and missed time in camp. He showed good things last game in rush and receiving.

Stafford is good, you just think he's bad due to idiocy. And nobody is perfect, every QB has 3-4 misfires a game. Sometimes the picks are dropped. See Maholmes against Pats last Monday.

Run blocking and pass protection needs improvement. Like I said before, 12 sacks in 4 games would be 48 over 16. Which is most allowed in league number in 2019.

Need more time of possession with defense getting off the damn field.

23 on Bears plus dropped TD is very impressive. 26 in a win. 29 in a loss. Thats all good offense right there. Good first half against Green Bay then a dud second half (missing KG and Dahl and Vaitai by the way)

No no no no no....for years you said it was because he didnt have weapons. Now he has a solid weapon at EVERY SINGLE position, fails to use them....and its someone else's fault?

Hockenson is wide open on every play...stafford rarely gets it to him.

Marvin Jones...havent heard from him all year.

Amendola...perfect slot #3 option.

Swift, Kerryon both Rd 2 RBs alongside a hall of fame RB.

What the fuck is staffords problem? Fine...take out the 3 sacks per game. Big fucking deal....what about the other 35 drop backs? Hes not playing well.

The #3 pick in the entire NFL draft who is a DB MUST start from the get-go and look like he belongs.

Just like the other first-round DB picks the Lions have made since 1960: Westbrook, Blades, Hunter, Bradley and Johnny Robinson, who signed with the Texans/Chiefs instead.

Lem Barney was picked in R2, and we all know how good he was, or should.

He has weapons. KG missed 2 games. Hock is producing. Stafford is producing too basically on his own. Protection and run game are still hurting the offense. Marvin needs to step up (coming off 2 injuries and older now). Amendola has been fine. Had the 50 yarder against the Saints to set up a TD and some other big catches, solid 3rd WR.

He has the weapons but you need better blocking too. And run game always helps make things easier so you don't have 3rd and long as often. And convert short yardage to extend drives for more chances for Stafford production. TOP like I said is big too. If defense is allowing lots of 5-6 minute drives or more, Stafford will have less chances to be awesome like he is.

So far Matt is 17th in passing yards per game which is middle of the pack. That might reflect that the offense doesn't have the ball because the defense is allowing long drives (Lions average 28:03 min per game vs. 31:56 for their opponents) but it doesn't reflect that his other stats are even worse

29th in completion percentage
20th in yard per attempt
18th in QBR
19th in rating

No protection. Swift drop (also a TD). No run game for longer throws in known passing situations making it easier to defend

YPA. No KG. No pass pro so can't go deep as much

Rating affected by all of that. Really a team stat. Need protection, good routes and good down and distance situations

Stafford is making plenty of plays to put us in position to win. Few mistakes but every QB has mistakes. Some QBs get lucky and the picks gets dropped. Jackson and Robinson made good plays. Sullivan was a bad play call for the pick 6 but Stafford shouldn't have thrown it

sounds like the entire team sucks (except for Matt)
