Game 64 Tigers vs. royals June 11, 2019

6 innings and didn't give up a run. He did his job, it was time for someone else to do theirs and they didn't.

The more arms you bring in from the pen the higher the odds you'll find someone that doesn't have it on that given night.

Last night's game was a microcosm of this forgettable season...inability to score RISP in a close or low-scoring game, BP breakdown, and defensive blunders in crucial situations. If more than half of this team returns next season, then the Tigers FO should be tarred and feathered, strung up, or burned @ the stake.

You can have an ERA of 0, if your team never scores a run, you never win. So no, wins IMO are not an important stat. Is ERA good criteria? By itself, it's decent, doesn't paint the entire picture. But it does indicate how many runs you give up per 9 innings.

In the 14 games he's started we've scored 44 runs, or 3.14 per game. Not gonna win many games scoring 3 runs. 3 of which we were shutout.
But you said his ERA. To trade. Not team but his.

Bless You Boys Tigers Blog Podcast #49: The time is now, JaCoby Jones. 71 minutes.
The editorial staff of Bless You Boys looks at the week in baseball news from the Tigers? perspective.

Ashley and Brandon return to discuss the rise of JaCoby Jones, and whether this, like so many hot streaks before it, will prove a mirage in the long run.

We also marvel at Spencer Turnbull?s breakout season, and the sense of everyone turning away from Nick Castellanos within the fanbase.

Setting the table for the assignments, promotions, and trade candidates who will be occupying our attention over the next six weeks as we approach the new hard and fast trade deadline.

Listener Questions.

Finally, Madison Bumgarner says let the kids play, but let him yell and scream about it, and...we?re good with that.

So if he pitched 4 innings after 38 pitches and was taken' out of a 2-0 game he did his job? He did his job well you keep him in, especially with our shitty BP.

There were 4862 starts in 2018. The average innings pitched for each start was 5.4 innings. The average number of pitches per start was 88

Turnbull went 6 innings (above the average), 96 pitches (above the average) and didn't give up a run (below the average). Yes, he did his job. Going 4 innings with less than 40 pitches...that would not be doing your job.

That's because most pitcher stink, they taken out early because they don't pitch well, which is why if you're pitching well you leave him in. Esp. with our BP.

You go for the win and going to our BP early is not going for the win.

actually, the Tigers should not be going for wins at this point in the season. We should all be rooting for them to tank so they get the #1 pick next year.
