But you said his ERA. To trade. Not team but his.You can have an ERA of 0, if your team never scores a run, you never win. So no, wins IMO are not an important stat. Is ERA good criteria? By itself, it's decent, doesn't paint the entire picture. But it does indicate how many runs you give up per 9 innings.
In the 14 games he's started we've scored 44 runs, or 3.14 per game. Not gonna win many games scoring 3 runs. 3 of which we were shutout.
So if he pitched 4 innings after 38 pitches and was taken' out of a 2-0 game he did his job? He did his job well you keep him in, especially with our shitty BP.6 innings and didn't give up a run. He did his job, it was time for someone else to do theirs and they didn't.

That's because most pitcher stink, they taken out early because they don't pitch well, which is why if you're pitching well you leave him in. Esp. with our BP.There were 4862 starts in 2018. The average innings pitched for each start was 5.4 innings. The average number of pitches per start was 88
Turnbull went 6 innings (above the average), 96 pitches (above the average) and didn't give up a run (below the average). Yes, he did his job. Going 4 innings with less than 40 pitches...that would not be doing your job.
You go for the win and going to our BP early is not going for the win.
Maybe that's what they're thinking.actually, the Tigers should not be going for wins at this point in the season. We should all be rooting for them to tank so they get the #1 pick next year.
