All-Time DETROIT leads 1000-928.

Castellanos 2 run oppo-field homer puts the Tigers on the board early, but the team needs to score often, b/c the a's have proven that that they can comeback to win late.

a's with 5 hits vs Fulmer in the 3rd take the lead 3-2.

On the way to 9 losses in a row, and 9 out of the last 10, the Tigers are playing the worst baseball in the league these days.

Woohoo 9 in a row!! Tigers now in mid-season form in terms of sucking.

Perhaps the Tigers can come up with a promotion to hide all of the empty seats this summer. Without Castellanos having a career season, they'd be well on their way to setting the new season shutout record.

Nice job with this Avila.

Of course Victor has his usual and customary GIDP du jour.

Swept in 4 @ home by a's, and looking more like the team that the Tigers were expected to be, pre-season. Candelario is making more often typical rookie misplays @ third. Tigers' #1 SP Fulmer pitching more like a #3 this season...or worse.

Hapless Avila's lose again. 9 straight, and I have no loser song for you today, I was hoping they'd win today so I didn't have to find another one, cuz all the others suck.

Really struggling. This is the time you start bringing up some potential talent. Stewart at least.. What about that Lugo guy.. I thought he was the guy when we made trades last season. I know we don't need a 3B but add someone. (just looked, he doesn't look so promising after we traded for him).

I think having VMart is really messing what the Tigers can do.

vs RHP 2017-2018 (250 MIN PA, 325 players qualify)

237. M. Cabrera 89 RC+ .718 OPS

Thanks to the toothless Tigers, the a's have leapfrogged the angels into third place in the AL West, and have moved to within 7 games of the last WC slot, currently being held by the mariners.

Tigers are tied with the rangers for the 8th worst record in MLB, but I am pretty sure that they can lose their way into the bottom 5 during the second half of the season, and improve upon their '19 draft slotting.

Erm..well..they kinda already have a built-in season promo, given that this is the 50th anniversary of the 1968 World Series championship team.

But with fewer stars, only one who is really All-Star worthy, and Miguel Cabrera now shelved for the season, apparently even the anniversary isn't enough to put more butts in the seats. After 43 home games in '18, the team has drawn 912,510, down 313,004 from last season's first 43 home games.

MLB's overall attendance is down by 2 million+ during the first half of this season.

DET is responsible for 15% of the drop by itself. DET, MIA and TOR account for 56% of the drop. It figures MIA would be there. They are averaging under 10,000 fans per game after trading off all their stars (or at least most). The went from over 20,000 per game one year, to under 10,000 the next.

DET Ranking Per Game

2017 = 15th

2018 = 21st

While not a big drop rankings wise, it is still over 7,000 fans per game.

Why are people surprised? The losing and attendance drop was expected by everyone this year. Just enjoy following some young talent hopefully develop and the trade deadline.
