Game Bye: Lions @ Bye Thread

I was curious also, total points in that first possession through 8 games

ZERO

8-0 in getting the ball first, ZERO total points.

So now I looked up what other teams did after we punted on our opening drive. 2 teams got the ball at their own 30 yard line. Everyone else got the ball back inside their own 21 yard line. Minnesota scored a TD on the first play with that AP run. The Bears drove down and kicked a FG. GB drove the field and kicked a FG. Cincy scored a TD.

So 4 times we gave up points. So do we want to put the D on the field to start the game either??? We have not forced a 3 and out yet after we punted. They either drive down and score or flip the field anyways.

I'd personally take the ball to open the game but that's because I view us as an offensive team and I'd rather take my chances with Bush, CJ and Staff then put the D on the field who we all say can't sack the QB and has a sub-standard secondary. But that's me.

Hard to say since the D has not yet started a game on the field first, I'd like to see it at least once and see how it goes. You could say half the time the D did not give up points on their first series so 50% success rate as compared to 0% for the offense. Lol

I don't know about the rest of ya but I think I'm pretty sick and tired of hearing about Dez Bryant still already, gesssh nfl network...fox...stfu already!

I think the Lions are going to win the Superbowl. What a great year. Extend Mayhew

with monday night being the Bears vs Pack. a win by the bears creates a 3 way tie for the division. a win by the Pack may doom the bears with the bears having a short week and maybe not cutler vs Detroit sunday

I think GB wins by 2 TDs tonight.

I doubt they'll do it, but I hope the Bears can pull out a win tonight. I feel much more confident in the Lions ability to beat the Bears than I do the Packers. The more GB loses, the better.

If Chicago wins tonight...

Green Bay 5-3, Div: 2-1, vs Det: 1-0, vs Chi: 0-1
Chicago 5-3, Div: 2-1, vs Det: 0-1, vs GB: 1-0
Detroit 5-3, Div: 2-1, vs GB: 0-1, vs Chi 1-0

If GB wins tonight...

Green Bay 6-2, Div: 3-0, vs Det: 1-0, vs Chi: 1-0
Detroit 5-3, Div: 2-1, vs GB: 0-1, vs Chi: 1-0
Chicago 4-4, Div: 1-2, vs GB: 0-1, vs Det: 0-1

Assuming Chicago wins,

According to the divisional tie-break rules, Head-to-Head > Divisional Record > Common Games

Common Games between the 3 teams
Each other (2)? (Not sure if this is valid in a 3-team tiebreak scenario since Chicago can't play Chicago, etc.)
--------------
Minnesota (2)
Washington
Dallas
Philadelphia
NY Giants
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
Baltimore
Cincinnati

In other words, the only games that won't count

For Detroit - Tampa Bay (TBD) and Arizona (loss)
For Chicago - St. Louis (TBD) and New Orleans (loss)
For Green Bay - Atlanta (TBD) and San Francisco (loss)

If we're going with final common game records below the line we get (this is incomplete)
Green Bay: 4-1
Detroit: 4-1
Chicago: 4-1

Actual common games thus far,

Cincinnati: Chi - W, Det & GB - L
Washington: Det & GB - W, Chi - L
Minnesota: Det, GB, Chi - W

Green Bay: 2-1
Detroit: 2-1
Chicago: 2-1

The next tiebreak would be conference record
Detroit: 4-2
Green Bay: 3-2
Chicago: 3-3

Detroit gets the nod in conference winning percentage

However, as mentioned previously, much of this is incomplete. We'll get a much clearer picture as the the season goes on.
