Good Stafford / Bad Stafford

lol...I dont need Kurt Warner to criticize his mechanics...hiw OWN HEAD COACH criticizes his mechanics and says the back foot and sidearm throws need to be corrected and they're working on it.

he still makes a few every game...this one to CJ just happened to go for 6.

Right. You played QB for 15 years, and got coached by multiple people who told you your throwing power comes from your back foot.

lol. Gold.

my right foot is my plant foot....it's what I drive off of when i throw the ball....when you drive off the back foot the hips clear , the shoulders rotate and thus the power....you step with the front foot to guide the direction of the throw...and you try and throw the chin directly into the chest of the target....ya I played at a high level , and coached mid level...both as a QB Coach and a O.C

same as a pitcher in baseball who drives with the back foot and a golfer who has to keep theback foot planted...its the main source of power and starts the whole movement of the body from the foot up the legs to clear and rotate the hips and then the shoulders.

it's why when he was in a walking boot with his right foot after the Falcons game they were worried...because the right foot is the plant foot for him where all the power comes from.

Correct.

Welcome to what I said 4 pages ago...

is your brain made of wood...it's why they refer to the throw as an astonishing throw , it was a complete back foot throw , with only the flick of the wrist...he didn't follow through with the front foot.

seriously i'm done...Ive coached 10 year olds that could get this better then you.

On that throw, he got his left foot down, transfered his weight, rotated his hips.

Hence the ball came out of his hand with zip, and he hit CJ on time.

Was it a perfect motion? No - it wasn't. But it wasn't yoru classic "Off the back foot" throw that keeps getting rotated around the media.

I also played at a pretty high level in baseball, and know a thing or two about throwing. Also worked Video for the Lions for almost 20 years, and specifically put together clips for lots of the QBs over the years.

Does that make me an expert at breaking down film? Hell no. But you get used to looking at that shit

When you drive off your back foot, you transfer your weight to your front foot which causes your hips to clear, and yoru shoudlers to come around. This makes your throwing shoulder go from facing upfield (your own endzone) to facing downfield (opposing endzone)

Clearly that happens on this throw. His entore body contorts around.

I mean I don't know where else to go with it. You're basically proving my point with every post your 15 years of glory taught you.

When you're a Right Handed QB and you throw off your backfoot you fall off to your left side because you don't clear your weight around. You're backwards.

He falls off to his right because he transfered.

It's really not hard... Not sure, other than to try and save face to your board slappy who'd never dare argue with you, why you continue on...

the balls gone before the shoulders rotate and left foot comes down.

it was a back foot , flick of the wrist throw

as agreed to by everyone but you......

Pretty clear that you're wrong in the pictures of the throw on page 1.

As his arm comes to the top of the throw, before the ball leaves his hand his left foot is clearly down and his right foot is coming off the ground

1/16th of a second later when the ball is gone, his left foot is down and his right foot is completely off the ground - indicating a full transfer of weight from his Right Foot (plant) to his Left Foot.

But hey - maybe I photoshopped them. Why don't you watch it slow yourself.

Did you play for UK and SMU?

I think the big thing was going to other players like Scheff, Nate, and Titus. We also came out throwing. We seem to do better when we throw to set up the run and not try and force the run. I know we need a running game but we need to throw first. We are what we are. Also not to knock Best but we run better with Mo. Best is great out of the backfield on screens and miss direction. He is not great between the tackles. Which is why we drafted Mikel.

Best is a dynamic playmaker though, and was right near the top of the league before he went down for total yards from scrimmage. It's been noted on here at least twice that I saw that he was ahead of AP in that category before the concussion.

No question all defenses need to know when he's on the field, and account for him and Mo, hard as he runs, doesn't really command the same respect.

I like the fact that he's gotten us 4-4.5 ypc the last couple weeks, and even K. Williams has gave us some nice carries - but don't downsize the impact that Jahvid has on the field because it's real.

I do like that we got the underneath stuff working early, and ran an End-Around, and got Schef involved. Those guys you need to sustain drives, and that's been our main thing lacking the last 2 games.

Ps. Thank you for getting the thread back on point...

you cant compare Best to Peterson in All Purpose yards...christ up until this past Sunday AP had 11 receptions....he was hardly used in the passing game...now with a rookie back there his load increased to nearly half his whole season in rec in 1 game ( 5 ).

Petersons a stud...and does most of his work between the tackles in the run game...Javhid isn't in his zip code as a RB talent.

No doubt.

Peterson is an elite level talent across the board.

Best is probably a better receiver than him, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find anybody who'd turn down trading Best for Peterson.

Best has been productive here though, and I'd say our Offense is more dynamic with him in it.

its not hard being productive out of the backfield as a receiver when defenses are in shell coverages and Calvin see's a Safety over the top pretty much 90% of the time...Best usually finds himself with SSLB coverage or a dime back....I'll take that match up all day.

hopefully Linehan is going to realize this soon and stop trying to hand him shtty little delays and draws in between the tackles where he is going to get hammered on.

2 games lost already to concussion symptoms....what a waste.

I don't mind using the delay and the draw the way it's designed to be - as a deception... but man, this year he's been using them like the primary run call. Very frustrating.

He's a tough matchup though against your typical coverage package.

I'm glad he's on our team - just wish they'd use him like Reggie Bush instead of like Peyton Hillis.

Don't confuse us with a good post, lol. We want back foot throw, power and plant foot.
