Grading Stafford

Stafford's day looks like a B+ through honolulu blue and silver sunglasses: 30/46, 4TD, 1 INT

30/46 (65%), 26 to Lions players 4 to Bucs
370 yards, 297 to Lions + 25 to Calvin on INT that doesn't count + 48 for Leonard Johnson's TD
4TDs, 3 to Lions and 1 for TB
1 INT, because we have been informed by LKP that 3 shouldn't count.

The Johnson one should be a fumble not an int. He had possession of the ball before it was knocked loose.

Unless you have a completely different perception of a reception no he didn't.

If the ball hits the ground vs. the DB catching it the same people saying that it was a fumble would have said he never had possession and it was an incomplete pass.

49.6 completion rate the last 3 weeks for Stafford. He needs to turn that shit around asap

I know Stafford, for most of the year, hasn't had much in the passing game but come on. I've been egging him on all year to throw deep and now I realize I made a mistake. He just can't do. Disagree or now but he's regressed since 2011.

reggie is wide open in the flat with no one within 20 yards of him...matt throws a pick 6 to a 6'7'' fat ass that ducks when the ball is thrown at him.....why the fuck did we even sign reggie?

So what you're saying if Matt is facing pressure be can't complete a pass?

Wide open Calvin was missed right down the middle of the field verse TB.. He was over thrown by 10 feet. Matt stepped up in the pocket like a good QB does and rifled it ten feet over his head... Missed Bush on a easy td in Pittsburgh on a 5-7 yard pass.

By the way the throw to Pettigrew was a bad throw by Matt.. His coach little Jimmy S. has already been quoted Matt threw it to soon..

Threw it soon because of pressure. He was getting hit.

DETROIT -- They are silly discussions, but people love talking about which players and teams are elite.

If it wasn't clear before Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, let the contest serve as an emphatic reminder that the Detroit Lions and quarterback Matthew Stafford don't deserve to be in the discussion.

The Lions have poorly handled increased expectations. Instead of pulling away in the NFC North, Detroit has dropped consecutive games where they were the favorite.

In both defeats, Stafford has struggled. He threw four interceptions against the Bucs, one week after going 3-15 in the second half against the Steelers.

Elite teams and quarterbacks win playoffs games. When that happens, get back to us.

MLive.com beat writers Kyle Meinke and Justin Rogers discuss Detroit's 24-21 loss to the Tampa Bay in the video above.
