Get Started[color=#006400 said:KalineCountry[/color]]No way for me McLain was the MVP of the decade.
Gotta go with Kaline. The Six led the entire AL in batting for the entire 1960's.
otherwise good stuff as usual.

Yes he was, and Cy Young Winner in 68 and shared the award with mike cuellar in 69.
Kaline had just over 40 WAR for the decade, .296 for the decade led the league, 7 Gold Gloves (when they meant something), All-Star Games every year from 60-67 (9 total for decade), 5 Top 10 MVP finishes including 2nd in 63 and The 63 Sporting News Player of the Year (as well as in 55).
Turok said:One of mine was in '68 when Tigers' SP Earl Wilson came within inches of hitting a grand salami, in but it hit the top of the left centerfield fence and bounced back onto the field ,Earl had to settle for a 3 RBI triple. IIRC.
I also seem to remember in '70, I watched a game on TV when Wilson struck out swinging to end an inning, then the channel cut away for commercials, but when the game came back on, it turned out that the catcher had dropped the ball, and Earl took off for first, the catcher having thought that the inning ended, had thrown the ball to the mound and started walking off the field. As Wilson rounded second and headed for third, finally one of the opposing team's OFers who was near third, took the throw from another player who retrieved the ball and tagged Wilson out, who also got hurt sliding for third base.
I can't find anything online about this play, what team the Tigers played (I can't remember, it was soo damned long ago) or if it happened exactly as I described...oh,well.
