Other winners:

Catcher: Johnny Bench
1b: Albert Pujols
3b: Mike Schmidt
RHP: Pedro Martinez
LHP: Randy Johnson
REL: Rollie Fingers
Closer: Mariano Rivera

The first three are in the HOF. The next two will be on the ballot shortly. I did not think any active 2b, except maybe Ramon Santiago, deserved to be included yet because of lack of time served. For example, Cano only has 7 yrs.

i just looked up sweet lou, alomar, and biggio up on fangraphs and lou beats both of them by a ton defensively and was on-par offensively. i confirm my write-in for lou, it really cant be anyone else for me.

edit: i should mention i preemptively plan to vote for Tram for shortstop whether or not he's on the ballot lol.

If Tram is not on but the lesser player Ozzie is I might just burn this site down.

Lou was excluded b/c he did not make the HOF. If he were still on the ballot, I would have included him. Yes, he was a conscious exclusion.

Tram is still on the ballot, so he'll be there when we get there.

Some quicky thoughts on the candidates...

Morgan: Bill James claims he might be the best player ever...take it for what it's worth
Alomar: Compared to Eddie Collins when elected...a step below Morgan believe it or not
Biggio: Love Biggio. True Grit. Not as good as the other two or Sandberg.
Sandberg: He's become underrated in recent years. Had one of the best games I ever saw in 1984.
Kent: Premier offensive 2b of his era.
Lou: Great defender, prime time player. Should be in the HOF. Shame that he went down so quickly.

Sweet Lou was a helluva player, great glove and bat with power. He deserves to be in the HOF. I'm a lifelong Tigers fan, but Whitaker isn't in the same class as Alomar, in fielding or hitting. Never saw Morgan play, so Alomar gets my vote.

Don't spoil it. Sweet LOU is the man.

OWar - Alomar 66.9 Lou 62.0
DWar - Alomar -3.4 Lou 7.7

Very comparable and I get sick of hearing Alomar was awesome on D. Both with the exact same FLD % but Lou impacted it much more if you look at DWar.
