Of Grapefruit League, anyway.

Tiges up 6-1 bottom of the first against Phillies.

Yay, baseball!

I was watching some of the Cardinal-Nats game and they're both wearing red. Its funny to look at.

Old man rant

Why not give some kid a chance to pitch instead of ending the inning prematurely? You got 75 guys in camp right now. There are plenty of pitchers available.

For some who can't watch it or hear it what do you mean?

I think it?s a Covid thing.

That don?t mean I think it makes sense ? I?m just saying that it?s a Covid thing.

A lot of Covid shit don?t make sense to me ? but that?s an ongoing discussion on the politics board, the Coronainsanity thread.

A manager can call an end of any inning after their pitcher has thrown 20 pitches at the end of any at bat until March 13th.

It didn't sound like a covid thing. More like controlling pitch count early in spring training.

To be fair, Girardi waited after his 2nd pitcher in the 1st to invoke the end the inning rule.

I believe the relief pitcher had to throw 20+ pitches not just total pitches in the inning.

Do you ever get to any of them cactus league games out there, Mich rap?

When I first moved out here in '13 I thought it'd be awesome. Until I saw prices, the added cost, delivery fee, etc. I figured I'd get a couple tickets for me and my brother in law - for two it was like 62 bucks. For a freakin' ST game. So I passed it on it. Haven't thought about since.

The only ST I ever attended was in 2002 in Florida - Detroit & Pittsburgh (Bradenton). Last game with my Pops. I thought tickets might be like 10 bucks, boy was I wrong.

Damn.

Pricier than I would have thought.

Don?t know.

It seems to me it comes from the rule from last year that a relief pitcher had to pitch to three hitters, which was definitely a Covid rule.

Maybe a combo.

I’ve been going back-and-forth between the Tigers game on satellite radio and the Dodgers game on broadcast. In both games the announcers are excited that there are fans in the stands.

The 3 hitter rule was way before Covid.

No it wasn?t.

I was wrong ? the rule wasn?t put in place because of Covid; it was put in place so the games wouldn?t last so long.

It just happened to coincide with the Covid season.

I assumed it was a Covid rule, like the extra innings starting with the runner on second base.

Now you?re clutching at straws, my friend.

Look at the date on the article that you linked to ? December 17, 2019. So how many games in the 2019 season that were played on or after the date of the article? Oh that?s right, none!

The rule change applied to the 2020 season.

I was wrong about the reason for the rule change, but you are wrong about it being ?way before the Covid.?
