Old man rant
Why not give some kid a chance to pitch instead of ending the inning prematurely? You got 75 guys in camp right now. There are plenty of pitchers available.

For some who can't watch it or hear it what do you mean?
Oh well. Thanks.
Do you ever get to any of them cactus league games out there, Mich rap?
When I first moved out here in '13 I thought it'd be awesome. Until I saw prices, the added cost, delivery fee, etc. I figured I'd get a couple tickets for me and my brother in law - for two it was like 62 bucks. For a freakin' ST game. So I passed it on it. Haven't thought about since.
The only ST I ever attended was in 2002 in Florida - Detroit & Pittsburgh (Bradenton). Last game with my Pops. I thought tickets might be like 10 bucks, boy was I wrong.
Damn.
Pricier than I would have thought.
A manager can call an end of any inning after their pitcher has thrown 20 pitches at the end of any at bat until March 13th.
It didn't sound like a covid thing. More like controlling pitch count early in spring training.
Don?t know.
It seems to me it comes from the rule from last year that a relief pitcher had to pitch to three hitters, which was definitely a Covid rule.
Maybe a combo.
The 3 hitter rule was way before Covid.
No it wasn?t.
I was wrong ? the rule wasn?t put in place because of Covid; it was put in place so the games wouldn?t last so long.
It just happened to coincide with the Covid season.
I assumed it was a Covid rule, like the extra innings starting with the runner on second base.
It was out in place end of 2019.
