I thought Obama had raised more campaign funds. Isn't that a stronger historical case than "The country has never elected three consecutive two-term presidents"?
I think Romney actually has the edge now; certainly if you add in all the dirty Super PAC money from Sheldon Adelson, Karl Rove's "Crossroads" Super PAC, etc.
Be prepared to be bombarded this fall by a cavalcade of scare tactic ads on TV, the likes of which you've never seen before.
the only thing is... like the stupid "Jeremiah Wright - Obama hates white People" ads the Ricketts' family patriarch was going to re-hash before it was ridiculed in the media, there's not much they can trot out this time that will really have much of an impact. I think a lot of it will only lead to a backlash against Romney.
I mean, it's clear to most Americans with an IQ above the
tsmiths of the world that Obama has governed as a center-right president his first term; social spending/domestic spending has been stagnant, or even declined from what it was under Bush... taxes have stayed low... defense spending high... we killed the boogeyman, Osama Bin Laden. Our foreign policy has been exactly the same as that of Bush, so much so that even Dick Cheney and other right wing hacks have praised him.
So to hear the GOP attack Obama for being too leftist, or doing a bad job means what to most voters? We need to move
even FURTHER to the right? That leaves us near Mussolini I think. I think most Americans would reject that.
Obama turned out not to be a Muslim, Kenyan Revolutionary, Communist, Socialist, etc.
So... what can they really attack him on that will resonate with voters? All this ad money might be counterproductive in the end.
