HOF players' demands

I disagree . Fuck the Monopoly that is the NFL. I think they are the only major sport that does not have lifetime healthcare unlike the other sports. I heard something like this in passing on the tv this morning so i could be wrong on this. I think they get it for five years after they play then it goes away. Not sure though. Shannon Sharpe on his tv show this morning is supporting them. Also I think the hall has like a huge complex the are building and i heard a billion dollar price tag on it. The commissioner makes 40 million a year so I think they can set money aside for the players who paved the way. This most brutal sport we have so the players should have lifetimes healthcare but that is just my opinion. Heck I only played pee-wee and JV, junior seasons and i am still paying the price from my injuries.

of course he is supporting it...he's in the HOF.

What makes these guys so special that they deserve health insurance and a salary over the guys that played right alongside them for the same amount of time? Mike Golic said this on his show this morning. He said he worked just as hard and just as long as the HOF players...what makes them more deserving than Mike Golic (who is not in the HOF)?

Now as far as health insurance for life...that's something that the player's union should either provide or fight for in their CBA. That's something that has not been a high priority.

Shannon Sharp has a FT job that makes more than all of us and he wants more.. Same for many of those guys. Quit buying shit and you won't go poor.

Sharp said he would donate all of his money to the players who need it . Also I think all NFL players should receive healthcare once they play 1 game, not just the hof members. Let?s be real here. The hof is making money hand over fist from these players likeness. Give them a cut.

first of all, the pro football HOF is a non-profit and is a separate entity from the NFL. I'm not sure they are making money "hand over fist"

Secondly, you actually believe if a player plays in one game they should be entitled to health insurance for life? Why not make UM responsible for healthcare for life for all of its athletes? Aren't they taking just as big of a health risk?

The bottom line is the players and the player's union are responsible for them not having health care, not the NFL. If it's that important to them, make it priority #1 in the next CBA.

I've always had 1 thought. Don't play. These guys make a lof of money can't they afford their own health care? If regular people have to pay theirs they should be able to manage.

Most of these football players buy overpriced houses. Overpriced toys, invest in the wrong things etc. Be smarter.

This may be the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. So because you’re in the hall of fame you’re entitled to salary and benefits? What about good players who stuck around the NFL for 15 years and were never hall of fame caliber, they get nothing? I love too how they claim “some members are struggling financially,” maybe guys like Lawrence Taylor shouldn’t be getting busted for drugs and hookers and he wouldn’t be in a financial hole.

I used to work at a mall retailer as a high school summer job and I was a pretty good employee, I want an annual salary and benefits because I was so good at it! Kick rocks HOF.

700 million dollar expansion says otherwise .

Well I believe all nfl players should have benefits but Tom is right they have a really dumb union that caves to the Billionare owners it seems.

There is a lot of gray area’s like always with insurance, and the ncaa . I am sure Insurance try to get out of as mush as possible but then that is normal now days. The sooner we have insurance for everyone all these problems will be solved, and the middle man can be taken out.

that project has been put on hold due to problems with funding. Most of what you consider "an expansion" is being built by the city as "attractions", restaurants, etc. which are not part of the HOF.

But, it did include a 143 bed assisted living area for HOF members that are/will be in need. Not sure if that's part of the HOF or not.

I heard the other day it was going to be closer to a billion dollars. Sooner or later they will expand, and football by far is the most popular sport.
