Hoops vs Binghamton

Like jb said . What am I going to run? We are getting open shots ? Gotta hit them.

Defense really shut them down in the 2nd half.

Poole is a monster. Best offensive player.

Livers has always been my guy and is definitely out of his funk. He deserves starter minutes even if he's coming off the bench.

Did Simpson score? Where was his usual aggression on offense? He took one shot. His other stats were spectacular, but I'm worried his confidence with his shot is gone.

Iggy had a good game. What we expect from him.

Matthews is this year's version of rahkman in that as he goes, so does the team. If he was playing well today, we wouldn't have been close at all.

Still waiting for a 3rd and 4th bench option. Davis is okay but will never be consistent. Hoping Johns and DeJulius step up during the conference year or this team is going to burn out

Quite honestly, this team scares me a bit. They had some guys last season that could bail them out of offensive funks. MAAR could take over, Robinson hit big shots, and Wagner could do both. The defense is still damn good, but some of these lulls are VERY troublesome. There was damn near a 10 minute stretch today where they were stuck at 9 points.

I know they are #2, but they just do not look like it. I expect them to get better, but SOMEONE has to step up. Austin Davis, bless his heart, is not a B10 player. Johns needs to grab his minutes in a hurry.

They'll step it up when the competition gets better.

Hard to get up for Binghamtom. They focused when it mattered, the last 8 minutes. They shut them out and blew them out the last 8 minutes.

I expect so, doesn't mean it's not a concern. I have seen similar stretches multiple times this year, and I just do not think they have guys that can bail out like last year. They REALLY need one of those bench guys to step up when Teske comes out. Davis provides nothing. I was hoping Johns would be ready at this point.

Didn't learn much from the past 3 or 4 games honestly. It's the ho-hum part of the season for fans and I'm sure players alike. The team clearly played much better against UNC and Nova etc. when they actually had to play well together.

Depth and free throw shooting. We all know the concerns with the team. Nothing's really going to change that since the freshmen just don't seem ready unfortunately. Other than Iggy of course.

I don't think the freshmen have been given enough meaningful minutes to determine that. I think JB is easing them into things like he did with poole last year.

Simpson 10 assist to 2 turnovers and 9 rebounds, plus 2 steals. You are right he took only 1 shot. He hit 2 free throws in a row though for his only points .

I dunno. Poole was a much more significant contributor to the team than any of the current crop of freshmen (again excluding Iggy). Poole got 20+ minutes and scored 19 points against Indiana in early December last season for example.

I think he's not playing them outside of garbage time for a reason. In the past JB has not been scared to play freshmen if he thinks they can hold their own. It just doesn't feel like he has that confidence in these guys just yet.

I am also concerned about the lulls. This team has been sleepwalking since these last 4 games have started. Holpfully they will refocus when Big Ten restarts. Concerned about the lack of bench minutes. There has to be a better option then Davis. Fun team to watch on defense but I am worried about the scoring droughts we have had. Hungry is probably right they will step up hopefully soon. Next four games are played in 13 days. Went from a game a week to bunch. Need to find minutes for 8th and 9 guys if we even have those guys?

It’s sad that both of the games against Michigan and MSU are at the end of the year. Would be nice to see them play early on. Michigan has a good chance of being undefeated going into February.

Agree Hate the late schedule. MSU’s top three are playing great right now. Winston, ward, and Langford. Tillman is rounding into a solid player. Wish the teams had a game in January and one in February. Who knows they may play 3 times with the btt.

This seem like a odd late season schedule for UM. But MSU has the same thing just insert Indiana for the Maryland. I think Big Ten regular season winner may have a few losses. It may end up in a multiple team tie by seasons end. I think the BT will get 7-10 teams in the ncaa this year.

Nebraska 2/28.

I think the game @MSU will be during Spring Break for Michigan State students as well. Hopefully there will still be some big ramifications on the line.

The Big Ten did do some work OOC and because of that I think 7, possibly 8 bids is possible. However, some of the teams are leveling off and some others I'm not quite sure how good they are. I think right now UM and MSU are the only legitimately good teams but there is some crazy depth. There's a collection of teams after that that appear to be "pretty" good (UW, IU, Nebraska, OSU), and some more teams where it's tough to say but are at least decent to good (Iowa, Purdue, Maryland, Minnesota, NW). If you figure PSU, Rutgers, and Illinois to make up the bottom, then there's not really any easy road trips anywhere.
