Offense:

Total YDS/G= 424.5 That 2nd only 2 Denver
Passing Ygs/G= 309.3 Again 2nd only 2 Denver
Rushing YDS/G = 115.2 thats 16th but has been steadily improving all season
Points For/G = 27.2 Thats 4th behind Denver, Seattle and Dallas

Defense:

Total Yds/G = 344.9 That's 15th in the league and improving
Passing YDS/G = 262.3 26th in the league and kind of staying around there
Rushing Yds/G = 82.7 3rd in the league only behind Carolina and the Jets
Points Against/G = 23.9 18th in the league

Give/Take = -8 26th in the league

Detroit will likely make the playoffs but I feel that with one more good draft and Free Agency, this team could be one of the top 5 in the league next year.

Some of that is disappointing. Good offense but offset by turnovers. Good rush defense offset by bad pass defense. Takeaways will offset that some but because we're -8, not. The stats say we're a 7-5 team. We need more than 1 good draft, we need about 5 Mayhew drafts.

My take on the defense, we need 2 new starting CB's. A S to play if and when Delmas gets hurt. Offense, we need a WR, #2.

Outside of that, we need Stafford to get smarter and quit turning the ball over.

Coaching, needs to change. Gunther, you suck.

34 points from turnovers against the defense. So about 2.8 PPG less truly on the defense.

Run D, 3rd down D, the way the offense moves the ball so well and finishes has me excited.

Big passing plays and turnovers, we'll see what they can do about that. Fix that and they can do some damage this year. Don't fix that, could be heartbreak in the last 4 or playoffs.

oddly i'm looking at Walterfootball's newest mock for 2014 and it has Detroit selecting Marqise Lee WR from USC in the first, Bryan Stork C from Florida State in the 2nd, and in the 3rd Bradley Roby CB from Ohio State

Like it.

Stafford second in passing yards only to some bum named Peyton Manning. TDs with 27 second to Manning and Brees.

Imagine where he'll be if he cleans up his mechanics and stops the streaks of bad decision making. Could be scary good.

Lee will be gone well before our pick unless we lose out. Not to mention hes yet another WR projected in the "slot" type of mold for the NFL (eventhough in college hes been productive down field). Evans might be worth a look if we go WR in rd 1 and would be a nice compliment to megatron on the outside.

C could be a position of need but I really think we need to continue to add quality secondary depth whether it be at S or CB.

not a fan of secondary depth in rd 3 or later....they typically become a nickel/dime guy at best and we already have that in Bentley...no reason to give up on Bentley yet.

That's the thing. No one questions his potential awesomeness. I saw a lot of it in 2011. Last two years as well, but not as much. Too much "bad decision making."

Potential awesomeness. You are out of your mind.

He's awesome right now. 27 TDs, tons of yards(meaning tons of first downs), good 3rd down % and a proper 63% if he had the normal amount of drops most QBS have (around 20 drops not 47). Not all 14 picks are his fault either and not all are bad decisisions. For example, the Shields pick last game was not a bad decision. The Calvin pick late against the Bucs was a great throw. The pick Week 1 against the Vikings a tipped ball. The pick by DeAngelo the right read but Calvin got bumped off his route. Low ball to Calvin Week 4 crazily gets off his legs up into the air into Major Wrights arms.

Maybe Mayhew should draft receivers who aren't coming off injuries or have mental problems.

The great Seattle drafted 8 drop Durham. 8 drop Calvin. 9 drop Bush. 4 drop Pettigrew, 2 drop Burleson and 2 drop Ross. 3 drop Scheffler is gone.

Stafford has left some throws out there but his WRs/RBS and TEs have left some catches out there.

The point is, under normal drops, Stafford has done enough for around 63% completion. Plus 27 TDs (and 2 rushing). 27 PPG. Stafford is awesome.

All I'm saying LKP, Staff could be better. Every team has drops, maybe not as many as us but it happens. I notice you never talk about the great catches that help Staff. Take CJ away, drops and all and see how well he does.

Its weird how you support everyone on this team, including backups like Carey, Hilliard etc. but when supporting Staff you criticize everyone else around him to make it look like he's much better. Just odd..you criticize CJ more than Carey.

I said Stafford could make more throws. He left some out there too, some that he is bailed out by Calvin. Other Wrs bail out other good QBs too. Not every Manning/Brady completion is perfect. See my previous post on Stafford leaving throws out there. I proved the drops were more. You'll have to prove the Calvin bail outs were more than other WRs with other QBs.

But Stafford is definitely playing at a level we should be very happy with him despite what the comp % says. Of course you want improvement, but if he doesn't we still have a very good QB that moves the ball and scores points. Alot of points.

His accuracy is what keeps him from being elite along with his pocket presence and lack of composure in the pocket.

He's already at the cusp of eliteness. Outperforming alot of QBs this year and 2011. I'll take 30 TDs and a ton of yards(first downs) every year.

I never did like the elite or not elite talk. And just to clarify something, LKP. I know he's been the best QB we've had in my lifetime and he's very talented. Doesn't mean I don't want more..

This isn't about I'll take 30 TD and a ton of yards every year..this is about a QB who will make a game closer because he screwed up. Maybe that's not fair because without him we'd be losing more. But he was a top draft pick, makes a ton of cash and I wish he was perfect. That's not fair either but it is what it is..

In any event, it really comes down to the team as a whole. I would prefer to have a guy like Wilson who completes passes at a higher %, makes few mistakes with a defensive powerhouse - good rushing and passing defense. Not sure that's possible because Stafford will always be aggressive and Gym Shorts seems focused on line play only.

IMO, that's not too much to ask for. Look at the TB game, not saying Glennon is all that but they beat us simple, he played no mistake football and the defense made plays. In Glennon's 9 games, better completion % over Matt and a nice 13-5 TD-INT ratio.

Wilson needs Seattles defense and Lynch. Wilson couldn't do what Stafford did in 2011. Wilson makes plays but isn't asked to carry a team. Plus Wilson only 13 drops. He has Staffords drop %, you would be complaining about Wilson having only 59% completion too.

Stafford can't help the secondary or the 10 of the 11 fumbles that occured this year. Even some of the picks weren't on him. I'd say 9 of the 14 on Stafford.

Wilson has 300 attempts. Stafford has 500. Comp % can drop with more attempts and of course with a higher drop %.

You know how many picks Stafford had at 300 attempts (6 ints). You know how many picks Wilson has right now 6 ints with 305 attempts.

Detroit has scored 5 more TDS than Seattle. Same rushing TDs, 5 more passing for Detroit. Seattle has attempted 7 more FGs. Seattle has 10 more turnovers forced (hence more short fields and opportunities than Detroit).

Stafford is better than Wilson.
