Eagles trying to acquire Darius Slay, Lions price remains ?very, very high?.
Will the Lions budge?

Lions receiving phone calls about Darius Slay, it'll 'take a lot' to acquire him.

NFL Trade Deadline: Now is the time for the Lions to trade Darius Slay.
Football is a business, and business is not always fun.

If they trade Slay it says everything about what this teams goals or expectations are for the season.

I would love to know what "high" means. High for a 1.5 year rental might be a 2nd rd pick?

It?s difficult to remember everything from the stories links I read and post
but the speculation in one of them might have been a first and a second.

Ps. Stafford slay and Wagner make up 30% of our cap hit. With a potential out with Wagner this summer and Crosby coming in and performing well when asked... i wouldn't be surprised if slay and Wagner are gone by next season.

I’d like to see the lions improve the offensive line and actually have a running game again someday

Trade him, if you can get a first round pick, do it right away. If they're asking a 1st and a 2nd that's too much. Trading him is a smart salary cap move that can pay off big.

I saw somewhere they wanted what the Jaguars got for Ramsey. Not sure if picks will help when Quinn is doing the drafting.

Slay isn't going anywhere. If you can get that kind of package for him, you move him. The team has played about as well without him as with him. But no one is giving up a Ramsey style package for a 29 year old who's been injured as much as hes been healthy this year, owed more than 13 million, and with a short contract.

This is a fishing expedition. You're trying to land a marlin, but you're probably just drinking beer and talking shit.

I truly doubt he's going anywhere but the asking price should be a 1st and 3rd. If they get that I'd take it and run. I know people will bitch that they're giving up on the season but this team doesn't have a defense built to compete in the playoffs.

they don't have an offense to compete in the playoffs either.

BUT.. the counter argument is how do you build a defense that can compete if you trade away your top defensive players?

Lions scored 27+ 5 of 7 games (they won the game they scored 13 points and scored 22 in a loss to Green Bay after the refs screwed them)
At least 30 in 3 of 7

They have an offense to compete and playoffs. They have a ST to compete in playoffs.

Defense needs to pick it up but have played some good offenses as well (Vikings, Packers, Eagles, Chiefs with Maholmes). Giants (2nd and 4th Quarter) and Cardinals (4th Quarter only) games could have been better. Defense dealing with more injuries.

they have a one dimensional offense. Against good playoff teams they would be exposed.

It doesn't matter because the defense sucks.

26th points allowed (26.6 PPG)
26th in rusing YPG (130.7)
32nd in passying YPG (289.7)
31st in total YPG (420.4)

:lmao:

If Raiders, Cowboys, Bears twice and Redskins trash the defense. Then worry.

Lions keep defenses honest by still running the ball even without it working for yards. Pass pro has been better.

Detroit Lions made trade offer for Broncos CB Chris Harris Jr.
The Lions apparently made an offer at the All-Pro corner.

Lions tried to acquire Broncos CB Chris Harris.
LionsWire

Lions were only team that made offer for Chris Harris Jr. Their offer was not as good as 3rd-round pick.
Eagles expressed interest in Harris but never got to point of making an offer. By keeping him, Broncos figure to get 3rd compensatory draft pick for Harris in 2021.

Have to wonder if the Lions wanted to trade for Harris and move Slay all at the same time.

I thought the same thing. Then, I thought about how bad Melvin has been playing and I thought that trading for Harris and playing him along with Slay was their thought.

Either way, glad #23 is still on our side......for the next 9 games anyway. They'll deal him this off season.
