Jhonny Peralta future?

I thought Braun and Arod were "special" because both of these retards were publicly adamant that they never did anything, etc. They must have told Braun to accept the deal or they will go much further with the punishment. Obviously the union and Braun thought it was a fair deal.

I think you're right but I still haven't heard anyone say they are guilty. Cruz, Peralta, minor leaguers etc.

And Arod, officially his 2nd offense yet no 100 gamer, 214 or lifetime. So again, I believe MLB can do whatever it wants and I don't think the players union would get in their way.

Arod should get 50 games, it would be his first offense. He admitted to using peds prior to testing

This.

If admitting roids was an automatic 1st strike then J. Giambi would be out 50 games as well.

The Arod thing is most likely Hank Steinbrenner looking for a way out of a horrible contract.

So then he should win appeal, eh? He might be getting it cut down but does anyone expect him to only get 50 games when all said and done.

This whole thing is horseshit, suspend him for 50. They are trying to make an example out of him. He should get the same treatment bartolo colon got.

I don't know the ins and outs of this but common sense tells me that A Rod should only get a 50 game suspension like the rest of them. Of course common sense has nothing to do with any of this!

I think he ultimately gets much longer than the 50 games because they say they have evidence that he tried to get someone from Biogenesis to cover all of this up. What's the saying...the cover up is worse than the crime?

He's willing to accept a Braun type deal. The problem is they are not offering him one. Braun got off with 33 games less than he was due, likely because Selig used to own the Brewers and has a soft spot for them in his heart. So how is it fair to tell Arod (who never failed a test like Braun did- so this is 1st offense) sorry, but you get 214 games.

It's not, this whole thing is rotten, it's actually making MLB almost as bad as the players who used PED's.

I'm still curious what they said to all these players about getting a deal now or face a longer suspension later when the rule states 50 games for first offense..? Otherwise, regardless what Thumb says about Peralta's circumstances - you'd think Cruz for sure would say screw this I'm appealing (they're still in a playoff hunt). Unless MLB was set on giving them longer suspensions..

The difference between Cruz and Peralta is Peralta (and Montero) were not linked to the purchase or use of any banned substance. Cruz is likely not appealing because they have records of his purchases.

What they have on Montero and Jhonny is what I'd like to see.

No harm in bringing him back for the playoffs. Will be interesting when he hits a World Series winning walk off grand slam...

So is ARoid's much longer potential suspension that he is fighting, the result of his Yankees' ballclub exerting all of their considerable power and influence upon MLB to more harshly punish him.and/or is it b/c MLB has much more damning evidence on him. possibly in addition to his connection to Biogenesis? The reason given for Braun's more lengthy suspension was due to his apparently also violating MLB's "Basic Agreement"

Well, I still insist it must be something good because I can't imagine someone accepting a 50 gamer in a pennant race if he was innocent.

SaintGeorge, you;re from the UK, how did you come to be a Lions and Tigers fan? Or are you a transplant?

Isn't there some stipulation that if you lie and don't come forward when questions are asked the suspensions could go longer?

It more then likely stems from him lying about his failed test.

Yep I'm English. I went to see a friend in Detroit about 10 years ago... Went to a Lions game and fell in love. I come back once a year and since then have fallen in love with the other teams.

For the record, the lions beat the bears 12-10. Jason Hanson with 4 field goals. It was 2 years before I saw them score a touchdown!

My highlight over the years was a 24 hour period when I saw the return of Monday Night Football to Detroit when they beat the bears to go 5-0. And then I saw a Miggy home run at Copa in the ALCS the following night :)
