Kalin Lucas

So fast. Was disappointed about his senior year and the locker room issues - seemed like the injury may have affected his attitude a bit as well. Good to see he's grown, hopefully it works out well for him.

One of the top 15-20 finishers around the rim ive seen in college hoops since the mid 90's. I liked Appling, I loved Lucas.

Too bad about how his career ended, even finished on point shy of 2000 and had the ball in his hands with a chance to beat ucla and traveled. He was one of the toughest guards under izzo and was advised to sit out his last season. Let s hope he does make the league

How much do guys make in the D-League? Could he make more overseas? His numbers look good to me.. He was averaging 15.6 points, 5.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 28 games
(20 starts) before being sidelined for two months with a broken thumb in early February.

He sure was fast before he injury.. Even with the damn ball.. Reminded me of Ricky Green...

I'm pretty sure most players can make more in Europe. The advantages to playing in the D League might be the ability to more easily get noticed by an NBA team and called up. It's what the D League exists for. Plus, fewer issues with an existing contract like in Europe.

Funny. I was just talking about that with a guy I know who has coached D1 ball and has friends all around NCAA ball and one buddy in particular that coaches (assistant) for Kalin's current D-League team in Iowa.

He says he thinks D-leaguers can make as little as $25k to 30k.

it's generally 30 to 40k, tough life. also, don't be fooled by high point totals, a lot of these games are in the 120's

just too bad about him, he should have gone to the NBA after the 2009 title game.

Yeah your right. Should have gone then in 2009... 30-40K for hoops.. Should anyone feel bad for that Sbee? Not saying the life is great but its a better living then some have...

When you had the chance to be making millions and playing in front of real crowds the d league is a big disappointment. You only have about 10 years to make money and if you're not making a lot early you're in trouble. What do you do after its over?

Hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to say now he should have left after his sophomore year, but he wasn't a sure fire a first round pick then. There were questions about his playmaking ability (so-so assist numbers) and whether he was a consistent enough shooter along with his smallish size. I think I read before that he was planning to leave after his junior year until the injury happened. I hope he makes it and the injury has set back his timetable, but I'm not sure he was ever considered a lock for the first round and guaranteed millions, though I think he would have made a roster without the injury.

10 years at 30-40 k is better then a lot of people.. I hear what you are saying but I don't feel at all bad for him. I feel bad he got hurt before his millions.. But he still could go to Europe and make a lot more if he wanted to.. If he is careful his life will be ok...

I'm just saying his NBA prospects would have been infinitely better had he not blown his Achilles. He lost so much speed which was his strength
