Run Support.
He has been one of the best pitchers this year but not MVP caliber. He has given up 15 runs in his last 3 starts....that probably took him out of the Cy race as well.
I agree Tom, last year was one of those once every 20 or so years a pitcher is just at an even higher level of greatness.
I do think he would be in line for more consideration of Cy Young this year, if not for the low run support, because as much as won loss is used less and less in voting, it still matters to those that vote. All his stats, despite past few games, are close to last years, except the won/loss which is why I included the run support link.
trout winning the mvp would be an absolute joke.
and i don't give a fuck what WAR or any of these other garbage, made up stats say.
If voting were today, I bet Trout would win it by a landslide. Those stats are MVP worthy, but I think many will vote for him just because it is a rookie putting up those stats. My question is, how much do you value stolen bases? Thats really the only thing Trout is dominating Cabrera over.
I also think the meaning of MVP has been changed to "Best player". Is Cabrera more important to Detroit, or is Trout more valuable to LA? Does anyone think Detroit would even be .500 without Miggy?
Trouts stats are excellent, regardless of being a rookie or not, but loses out in the power numbers against BEAST.

Unfortunately, this could be the difference. And GG caliber Defense.

Yeah, I was leaving the team finish out. Just their individual play. I've always hated that team performance factors into an "individual" award, but history does prove it does.
