Last Start for Smyly

He has gotten progressively worse since the first few starts of the season. 5 of his last 8 starts he hasn't gone past 5 innings. That's not giving the team a chance to win. I know we don't have a ton of other options right now, but now we're into July, every game is crucial, especially when you're 4 back in the worst division in baseball. I hope he steady the ship today, and Tampa's offense isn't exactly world beating, so maybe it's a favorable matchup.

One more Smyly stat: opposing batters are slugging over .600 against him in June. He's getting often and hard. Like I said, might be a good day to turn it around and stick in the rotation for a little while longer.

On an up note, I would have said the same about Porcello last month, and he has turned it around in June.

Yeah i hope he pitches good because they may not give him many more chances.. I think DD will try and get a rm at the deadline...
