Not posting that I believe Fogle is guilty, but if he tried to delete incriminating files from his hard-drives, simply overwriting them with commercial software and/or downloaded applications is not enough. The entire drive would need to be wiped and overwritten, then degaussed and physically destroyed. His ISP's servers may also contain transfer records if he uploaded, emailed, or downloaded child porn.

Several years ago, I came across a link to a website located in a Scandinavian nation (can't recall which one) that offered free but limited access to the Usenet. I know what type of newsreaders work to do searches (SABnzbd) but never let my unrelenting curiosity get the best of me in this case. Not that everything in there is pure evil, BUT that is where most global sexually deviant cretins go to get their fixes.

I figure that the Usenet is the internet's virtual equivalent to the mythical "Pandora's Box" (which was in Greek mythology, depicted as a large jar)

We had a teacher at the pre-school - David Moe - arrested with over six laptops/hard-drives full of child porn. Part of an international sting that busted folks in Germany, the US and Canada.

It was gut wrenching and the most horrible thing imaginable. We were done with the school but had to ask our son about Mr. Moe. When I first showed him a picture of the teacher (his mugshot from the TV news) my son said, "he's a photographer or something."

I almost vomited and cried at the same time ..

turns out the only interaction our son had with Mr Dave was that he took the school class pictures so my son only knew him as a photographer.

The diary of his that they found and what he'd written ...worst was he was accused 10yrs prior but the (private) pre-school swept it under the rug and he stayed employed.

He's in prison now and for a long, long time.

This kind of aberrantly deviant behavior gives one pause to be more concerned about those who would malignantly use their administrative and/or contracted access to young children. I don't know if it has steadily or quickly increased over the decades, especially with the advent of broadband internet, but with what I posted above, just viewing it through uploaded/downloaded videos and live webcams might just whet their appetites for abusing the real thing, and more often.

I have had no children, (that I know of) but if I did, they most likely would have become adults by the turn of the century.

We really don't know yet whether the authorities are actually investigating Jared, or if this is just part of the investigation of the former director of Jared's foundation Russel Taylor, who has been charged with the possession/production of child pornography.

And we also don't know whether or not Taylor made up some bullshit accusation about Jared in an attempt to lessen any punishment that may be coming to him.

I was wondering that myself. sounds like Taylor was arrested a couple months ago though, fired by Jared's foundation, and the article reports he (taylor)'s on life support after a failed suicide attempt in jail, so they've now gone after Fogle about two months after all this.

I wonder how often a child ...woman, especially, who comes from a nurturing and loving home life as a child winds up in pornography. Seems the majority are drug addicts doing whatever they have to or were abused as kids.

I'm sure the pay is alluring enough for some coming from a rough background to endeavor in the industry for a while, but I don't think the majority of porn stars really aspire to be in adult films.
