Longtime Subway pitchman "Jared" investigated for ties to child porn

So I imagine that if your 18-year-old daughter were to get ensconced above the line in the porn market, you'd brag about it to your friends?

strawman.

A consenting adult is just that. Regardless of who daughter she is.

I wonder how often a child ...woman, especially, who comes from a nurturing and loving home life as a child winds up in pornography. Seems the majority are drug addicts doing whatever they have to or were abused as kids.

Jerry Van Dykes daughter went into porn. She wound up committing suicide.

She went to Cal Prep. A lot of those kids were messed up; it doesn't matter how much money their parents had.

by "porn" you guys mean "hard core pornography" like penetration, right? I'd agree that most of them enter than profession after a lot of bad breaks in life.

but I don't think most "adult models" are that damaged necessarily... just relatively attractive women that decided taking their clothes off and posing for pictures is easier and more lucrative than a real job.

I actually just watched a documentary on Netflix entitled "Hot Girls Wanted" about the amateur porn industry. Most of the girls profiled seemed to be well-adjusted and coming from "decent" backgrounds. Although, I think only two stayed in the industry. I believe the advent of social media and sexting has caused a lot of the younger generations to look at things drastically different when it comes to sex and/or nudity....and not necessarily in a good way.

To byco's point, when my four-year old is of age I certainly wouldn't be bragging to anybody if she were a porn star...and I certainly could never watch her "work." It's hard to say without being in that position, and I hope I never am, but if it were her dream and life's goal I'd like to find a way to be proud and support her, although I would think it also meant I fucked up somewhere along the way when raising her.

Many otherwise self-described pious & prudish people went to see "50 Shades of Gray" recently, and although it was fiction, it still "demeaned and objectified" submissive females. So I suppose that if an S&M pseudo-porn movie has a "plot" and maybe a moral to the Love Story of the 21st century, than that is acceptable to many of the tittering Ladies and giggling Gents of society.

From what I have read, it is the females who are paid the highest in the pornstar industry, but with the advent of broadband internet, and any Jack and Jill with a webcam uploading their scenes of all manners and positions of copulation with also perhaps one or more of the same and/or oppo-sex, their wages might have dropped significantly.

There is also a website that caters strictly to amateur devotees of S&M where they can also actually go to, and be physically abused and sexually tortured in all kinds of ways, including electrical and mechanical. I watched an online documentary about it awhile ago, and although the more vividly explicit scenes were edited out, it still was pretty much XXX.

It's interesting to note that our (N. American) society is very prudish compared to the rest of the world concerning nudity and sex. Which is likely one of the reasons it gets so much attention.

Help me to understand the intrinsic value in pornography. How it enhances the "common good."

I don't know if I'd go that far... I think in most cases it's only a means to an end, much like prostitution.

I'm of the opinion that to the extent these activities occur between consenting adults, legalize them, shine a light on the seedier elements of each industry to expose the exploitative parts of it, & arrest and convict anyone who exploits children (which is pure fucking evil), or adults (typically women) with substance abuse problems. People that are "into" that kind of stuff probably need help, and so make resources to help with sex addiction, or more unsavory behaviors (i.e. anything that exploits those unable to consent).

I think we could find common ground agreeing that in a perfect world, there would be no need for pornography or prostitution, although since we don't live in a perfect world, I say we find a solution that accepts human nature as it is, but in no case will the law allow exploitation of anyone (especially children).

I think social media and the internet is changing the industry incredibly. no more Uncle Jim with his Playboy tucked away in the bathroom that as a 14yr old, you know is there and no more seedy movie theaters in Time Square. you can browse hookers on your iPhone and text anonymously to arrange a meeting. sites like Tinder let people flirt and meet within a defined radius and more than ever, people love them some of themselves an awful lot. my son has an iPod Touch that we do not have connected to the internet unless we connect it.

not too long before he Googles 'boobs' I'm sure, but I hope it's not for a while.

Those are someone's children even if they are technically considered adults.

My wife is someone's child as well....really doesn't stop me from doing disgusting things to her when permitted.

I'm all for anti exploitation. But many 'actresses' in pornography are a long way from being exploited.

I'm sure the past couple weeks have not been fun for Subway's in-house legal team or PR dept.

From the article though, it sounds like his actions (at least those underlying the charges) all occurred more recently, since 2010, and he's been their pitchman for a lot longer than that.

Also: yeesh... what a creep. reading that made me sick.

I saw a comment somewhere about the people at Subway saying "Quick, see if we can get that pot smoker back."

Subway's official Tweet on the topic: "We no longer have a relationship with Jared and have no further comment."

l know and the guy has kids himself.

He would be okay with some creep molesting his kids when they become minor teens?

What a scum.
