Anything you've seen lately worth checking out? We don't have cable - just Netflix and Amazon Prime.

I just finished Godless on Netflix - a western that is only one season. Good production, well written, interesting storyline - a bit gory for the wife but nothing out of the ordinary by today's standards. You'll recognize a lot of actors but only be able to name a few at most (unless you're Tinsel and you know half of them and their dogs personally). I don't see how they could have a 2nd season without a completely different story line though.

I also recommend Patriot on Amazon Prime - dark comedy, modern day spy series - 1 season so far, but a definite cliffhanger at the end so I'm hoping there's more to come.

Peaky Blinders is good.

I have Ozark and Shameless on my radar but haven't' started them yet.

If you want to watch a good series then be very disappointed with the ending...watch Bloodline.

Try Bosch on amazon prime. good cast, well written for a show translated from several novels. I believe there are 5 seasons so far.

I have heard Ozark is great, it?s been in my Netflix list for a year now but I have been bogged down with The Office and don?t like watching multiple shows at one time if I don?t have to (although Better Caul Saul comes back soon so I will break my rule).

Not sure what platform it?s on but Fargo is supposed to be awesome too, that?s on my radar once I wrap up The Office.

Thanks - I finished Peaky Blinders a few months back and agree, it's solid. I've also finished Bloodline and was also disappointed with the ending.

Definitely watch Ozark, I'm hoping for a second season of that soon. I tried getting into Shameless but at the time had a couple other things going - I may check that out again as others have recommended that to me.

I thought about Dexter but there are so many seasons, I feel like I could never get through it, but the guy who recommended Shameless absolutely loved it so I may give it a shot.

I saw that and thought it looked interesting - will check it out after the wife and I wrap up the most recent season of Poldark.

Sneaky Pete on Prime since 2015. I watched only 1 episode and it was good my Mom loves it.. A bit about the show below..

A con man on the run from a vicious gangster takes cover by assuming the identity of his prison cellmate, Pete, reuniting with his estranged family, that threatens to drag him into a world just as dangerous as the one he's escaping.

Since this thread started I watched The Punisher. It was decent...a bit graphic/bloody.

I've seen that one too - it was good but wouldn't call it a must see. Will be interesting to see if there is third season.

The 3 shows I watch on Netflix right now are Peaky Blinders, Narcos, and Shameless. I probably like Narcos the most.

I don't really like TV series. Just personal opinion is all. I prefer to watch movies.

I prefer a good series that I can binge-watch. IMO, most movies are too short to really get into the characters and develop a good storyline. A good series is pretty addictive.

If you haven't watched these I would give them all a try.

Sopranos
Breaking Bad
Narcos
Peaky Blinders
Sons of Anarchy
The Office
Gotham
Making a Murderer

There's a lot of us Better Call Saul nerds on this board - there are actually a few threads already on the board.

If you don't have full basic cable I guess you can't see the current season that just started, but if you haven't seen the passed seasons you can catch up on Netflix.

The main character played by Bob Odenkirk was a character in Breaking Bad.

How much does full basic cable cost these days, anyway?

We have ATT Uverse that includes a phone line, internet, and our cable. Our bill is $248 per month which does not include any pay channels (HBO etc.)

As far as BCS...I think I am one of those nerds you are talking about. I was a HUGE Breaking Bad fan so I really love BCS.

I posted a thread about Lodge 49 that premiered this season, following BCS on AMC Mondays.

Pretty good so far.

Wyatt Russell is the star.

I guess he wanted to be a hockey player but wasn't quite good enough.

His dad played pro baseball - after being a child movie/TV star - I guess he wasn't quite good enough to make it in pro baseball.

Good thing for both they had acting to fall back on, I guess.

I like a series where the episodes are independent of each other. You could watch episode 2 and 2 months later watch another episode and it wouldn't matter if you missed a bunch of episodes. You weren't missing anything and then later on maybe you watch episode 3 on a rerun or something.

But I'm also picky, outside The Office the other stuff you listed doesn't interest me (Though I did watch some Sopranos). When it comes to series I prefer comedy, sitcoms (And there are very few of those I like). For the action stuff, drama - I just rather watch a movie.

The major broadcast networks write/construct their shows like that more than cable networks do. They always have.

There are obviously on going storylines, but they are written to catch people up Who are new.

I agree with what you're saying..

Back in the old days with shows like Barney Miller, Mash, All in the Family - you could watch an episode without worrying about previous shows and wondering if you missed something. I guess I've always liked it that way.. Even some newer shows like Law & Order - no continuation. Burn Notice was a little bit at times but that show was so awesome I didn't get bothered by it.
