Man, Bernie Sanders is so great

Looks like the former CEO of Chicago Public Schools, Paul Vallas is failing up. After running the city's schools into the ground, voters reward him by voting him into first place in the first round of elections for Mayor of the City of Chicago, knocking extremely conservative MAGA Dem, Lori Lightfoot out of the race. He will face extremely conservative MAGA Dem Cook County Commissioner in a runoff election early next month.

I wonder if he'll become an extremely conservative MAGA Dem like all the previous Dems that have run Chicago. Hopefully, he won't and will instead finally enact some of the highly effective leftist reforms that extremely conservative MAGA Dem Lori Lightfoot and others have already done (like defunding police, eliminating racist cash bail and decriminalizing crime) that have been so effective in Chicago and other major metropolitan areas. From what I'm told by Chicago political expert MC, he may have to become an extremely conservative MAGA Dem in order to get elected in Chicago.

Sanders all but admits he's a grifter...

First he struggles to explain the difference between equality (opportunity based) and equity (outcome based). Eventually gets it right, then says he's more for equality. Not the answer you'd expect from a guy that's been advocating for socialism for 50+ years.

To be fair, it looked like the old man fell asleep and was caught off guard when Maher asked the question.

I think posts like these must be examples of somebody who has somebody else "living rent-free in their head," as the kids say.

Good deflection. Think what you want. Stories like those actually crack me up, especially when viewed in the context of the stupid things you regularly post. Think of my posts as a public service - an attempt to the hilarity with a select private audience who may also find the stories and things you say quite humorous. How can one find the lengths you'll go to in order to blame Republicans for everything (i.e. the Democrats that run Chicago are "extremely conservative") anything but hilarious?

Oh, for the Love of God?don?t get me started on Bernie?s career with the Lion, or the Lions in general.

First of all, for all my seasons as a Lions fan, I never ONCE saw Bernie run to convert a first down EVER to extend a drive that would extend a season in crunch time.

That being said, I?m not gonna carry on about Bernie here. I?m just gonna go onto the Lions.

Let?s go back to the end of the 1997 calendar season.

Let?s say you are the Lions, and you?re looking to draft a quarterback from just up the road.

And there is a quarterback from just up the road, whom has lead his storied and legendary program to its first national championship in 50 years.

So you go ahead and draft a quarterback from just up the road? But the quarterback I just described is not the quarterback that you pick!

Oy, vey!

What Lions HAVE you seen convert a 1st down to extend a season in crunch time - or a second, 3rd or 4th down for that matter? Seems like a lot to put at Bernie's feet (pun intended).

Leaving aside the debatable "storied and legendary" bit, I assume you're talking about Brian Griese, but he's from Miami - unless you meant hang a right at the other end of I-75 when you said "from just up the road."

^^^^^^^T-Wolve is talkin' aboot Charlie Batch, who was drafted in 1998. ^^^^^^^

Not a lot of them?but Bernie Sanders is the only Lion I?ve had to suffer through listening to not natural Lion fans calling him the greatest player in NFL history,

?NO! He couldn?t even pick up a first down on 3rd and short to extend a drive to extend a season EVER! And I was the one with my heart breaking every damn time, not you!?

Right, but I thought he was lamenting the Batch pick when they could have had Griese...

Yes, I was.

If there?s a better illustration as to why the Lions have only one postseason wins since 1957, I don?t know what it is.

But hey - finally a winning season last year, maybe a shift in culture.

I remain hopeful.

I have to.

I?m a Lions fan.

Actually, Bernie Sanders never would have played for a capitalist oligarch dynasty like the Fords. So I must be thinking of someone else ... the first name escapes me.

I think the guy wore number jersey number 20.

I think comical mixup started win one Garth Brooks, who probably ain?t exactly in the Bernie Bro demographic.

would he have been wrong? Look at how they wasted his cousin Barry's talents. Possibly the greatest running back in history is instead just "among the greatest."

I don't agree that the Lions wasted Barry's talents. I think they are the one organization in the NFL that would have given him Carte Blanche and let him run wild. Other orgs like Dallas would have forced him to run to the hole.

The waste is that he never won a Super Bowl.

And Barry is the greatest RB in NFL history.

Definitely the greatest RB in NFL history - either broke records way faster than they were set or was on pace to break them (career rushing yards) in much less time if not for the early retirement.

I think he still would have been great and probably even better if Fontes & Davis gave him a tight end - he did all that with 5 guys blocking for him his entire career.

That's on the Lions not using tight ends or allowing Bernie to leap over the top. One of the reasons they drafted him was he had a 41.5" vertical but they wouldn't use him to leap over the top bc they were afraid of him getting injured.

scroll down towards the bottom for a list of the richest person in Congress from each state - Bernie Sanders estimated to be worth $9.8mm

he should give away all his money to prove he's a socialist (preferably to you, right?), because that's totally what socialism is about, correct?

No, it's all about wealth confiscation. So, Bernie certainly is no hypocrite in that regard.

I guess he's never heard of the Laffer Curve.

This line of "thinking" has been around for a while, and I feel like I need to understand how people who are not me see this.

So like, a guy who is a multi-millionaire says "We should raised taxes on multi-millionaires"

That makes him MORE credible, in my mind, rather than LESS credible, because it's not in his personal financial interest to pay more taxes.

Why is it people point to Bernie's (or others... I've seen people make the same comment with others as well) personal wealth (assuming that number is even accurate), and use that to discredit his call to tax wealth at higher rates?

Billionaires. Not millionaires. "?They can survive just fine?: Bernie Sanders says income over $1bn should be taxed at 100%" So Bernie isn't eligible. He's worth a paltry 3 million.

Bernie hasn't thought this through. A lot of billionaires funded Democratic campaigns, but that's not even the point.

The point is that Bernie always wants more out of someone else.

LOL, no. You tried this weak crap the other day with Tigermud and I corrected you then but here you are pulling the same garbage today. I don't want anyone to pay more in taxes in fact I want everyone including Bernie to pay less and I've never called for any socialist, real or fake to give money to me or any other private citizen. I merely remind them that they're free to give as much of their money to the government as they would like. Tax rates are a minimum and there is no statutory maximum - they can give up to 100% if they like. Yet they never do. You're trying too hard to defend your idol who has been running a scam on you and other rubes for a good decade plus...
