Man Up

Is it bad to say that if they go 0-5, should we be rooting for them to absolutely fall apart so some changes are made??

I know I did plenty of that in Rich Rod's last season at Michigan.

I know im crazy because even if they are 0-5, ill still hope they can right the ship and make the playoffs lmao.

However, if they get to 8 losses anytime before week 12, I wont be Hoping they lose, but I wont be mad either...

It seems like Mayhew needs a top 5 pick in the first round to have any success, otherwise its pretty much a done deal as a bust. I thought Xanders put in a new system, but outside of 2013 when they drafted fairly well (and even that draft 'rank' is falling fast) these drafts have been very underwhelming...

Minnesota, KC, Oakland, Philly, NO, San Fran, Cago (twice). 8 wins

The first 5 "can" beat the Lions...not saying they will, but they can. It wouldn't surprise me if the Lions lost 2 out of those 5 or won all 5. I would probably be a little more surprised if they went 5-0 vs those teams though.

He needs to go away. Get Abdullah 20 touches, and let's see what he does with them. The rest can go to Riddick. How terrible does Bell have to do to get phased out. It fucking makes me sick

Agreed here.

Is there a site (or a better question would be, is there even a metric) which rates a RB's ability to pass protect?

That is literally the only thing I can think of that Bell might be better at than AA, and is a reason why they would put him out there more than the reccomended 0 times a game.

However, I even if Bell is 10000 x better than AA at pass protection - that is a stupid fucking reason to put him out there...the RB is there to run the ball after all.

Exactly, screw Bells pass protection. Put Abdullah back there and let him sneak out of the backfield(instead of blocking for Stafford) and catch 10 balls. The fact that they cant figure out how to get this guy the ball with space to run is absolutely asinine. We need to scare opposing defenses with one of our RBS in one way or the other. Bell is not that guy, in fact, I think he might be the 4th best dual threat RB on the team. Give his touches to ZZ, for all I care. They need to change shit up in the backfield, and right now

our defense lets up over 20 points in every game we play and our offense cant score 20 points in very many games we play.

I don't think Philly can score either though. An 1800 yard rusher is on pace for like 200 yards there, lol. Chip Kelly might be as worthless as Lombardi

That's sad and extremely pathetic. 6 lousy guys out of 29 in 4 years. And of the 3 starters, ones out with an injury, ones been playing LT and everyone wants him to be a RT, and the other's Matt (lol).

You have to attribute 95 percent of that to the defense. Probably one of the best defenses I ever remember with this team. And they let it go to waste.

I know some will deny it but you really have to think about what Suh meant for Detroit. He was the biggest part of that D, made the Line better. Made the secondary seem adequate and made the LB better.

Suh is a big loss; there is no two ways about it. That being said, I think the D would have managed to be productive (as in top 10) had Mayhew not gone full retard and done nothing to prevent the utter destruction of our D-Line.

Losing Suh due to fucking up his contract so badly you cant even franchise him (aka the rule made so teams like the lions can keep players like Suh) is one thing, but Mayhew took it a step further and did the following:

1) Declined the (cap friendly) team option of a talented (2nd best) DT in Fairley in hopes to 'motivate him' which in turn, pissed him off and is the main reason he left in the offseason.

2) Totally ignored both Mosely and Fluellen (3rd/4th best DT) due to trying to save money for Suh.

3) Lets a fairly productive Pass Rusher in Johnson go to the Bucs for free, due to not putting the correct RFA tender on him...He wasnt going to be a starter here, but Det currently has 4 sacks this year...which is brutal.

4) Passes on the top DT (A Donald) in the 2014 draft for a drop prone TE, which by all indications is a bust. Meanwhile Donald went on to have a dominant rookie season w/ 7.5 sacks, and already had 3.5 this year....

He does all of this after forming the entire defense (personel/scheme) around getting pressure on the QB! Being able to pressure the QB with a 4 man rush was a HUGE advantage to the Lions, and was why they were successful...but he seemingly forgot about that and decided to take a shit on that plan. Well I hope youre fucking Happy Mayhew - you just fucked up your '7 year plan' in one offseason you damn moron
