Former Michigan basketball standout Manny Harris is looking for a new home.
The Cleveland Cavaliers announced a pair of roster cuts Thursday, and the former Wolverine standout was one of the casualties.
By cutting Harris and fellow guard Kenny Hayes, the Cavaliers trimmed their roster to the NBA maximum of 15 players. Harris has had a foot injury and did not participate in training camp or any preseason games.
According to a report earlier this month, Harris suffered a burn on the outside of his right foot.
The burn, according to Harris' agent Henry Thomas, was a "freezer-type burn" that led to an eventual ulcer, sidelining Harris and eventually keeping him out of preseason action.
The 6-foot-5, 185-pound Harris played in 54 games with Cleveland a season ago, averaging 5.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
After opting to forgo his final his senior year at Michigan following the 2009-10 season, Harris was not selected in the 2010 NBA Draft.
Harris earned a training camp invite as an undrafted rookie with the Cavaliers, eventually making the team and playing the 2010-11 season.
In three years at Michigan, Harris averaged 17 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
Despite playing just three years at Michigan, Harris finished his career at No. 10 on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,668 points. The Detroit native also ended his time at No. 9 on the all-time assist list (336), No. 4 on the all-time free throw percentage list (82.74 percent) and No. 32 on the all-time rebounding list (559).
While Harris was waived Thursday, former Michigan point guard Darius Morris received better news from the Los Angeles Lakers.
Morris, who set Michigan's single-season assist record as a sophomore last year, made the Lakers' 15-man roster.
The former Wolverine point guard finished with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists in his preseason debut Monday. Morris did not play in Los Angeles' second preseason game Wednesday, due to a coach's decision.
